I took the tutorial in "deadly rooms of death" .From the naming office I went Twice north, one east (library?) The fork: the entrance/ Quest for knowledge:twice east. I'm in a room with sets of yellow plates, three in each corner. Some bugs in the middle compound. I think I'm supposed to step on certain plates to open the green barrier to the next room east but I'm stumped! I don't believe I have a name yet.

Also: pressure plate affect yellow doors only.
The only way you'll drop a green door is by clearing a room (usually by killing all the monsters in it)

I thought I had it figured out but after killing one of the three raoches I got stuck between doors with two roaches left in the room. Now what?

I think the easiest way is to restart the room. Just press "R" to do that.
