OK, so we have a hold with 102 rooms. 50% is 51 rooms. How is 51 >= 100?

I did say just above that they both entailed each other but that is obviously wrong.

Tarstuff Perfectionist: Fill a room randomly with different tarstuff, tell if all tarstuff is clearable only by taking a quick look at the room.

Wubba Cooler: Keep twenty wubbas alive on hot tiles for at least 50 turns.

Natural Leader: Keep twenty stalwarts alive on hot tiles for at least 50 turns.

Animal Liberationist: Keep ten stalwarts away from killing anything in a room full of monsters. (No, you're not allowed to kill the them).

Decoy Master: Wake 100 eyes at the same time, being invisible.

Only when there are exactly 199 rooms both achievements are equivalent.

Believe it or not, but that's the reasoning behind the X.99 prices. Even with automatical fixing of the individual prices back up in our brain, most people get the wrong impression when adding more than one X.99 number. If you don't explicitly do the math, you subconsciously get a "lower" feeling than in reality.

Really? 9.99 subconsciously gets replaced by 10 in my brain, with an extra bit of 'I don't trust this retailer'

Yes, but you will do 3.99 + 3.99 = something like 7 quite a lot in your head.

It doesn't work on a lone X.99 number, adding more than one of them is required.

the funny part is, this doesn't work in canada, because everyone's subconsciously adding about 15% anyway due to sales tax.

Well, it would work if they just included the sales tax in the quoted prices, like it's done here - it's mostly 20%, though...

That's lunacy and almost never happens around here.

The only stores that do it have specifically angled their prices so that with tax it comes to some perfect round number.

(admittedly sales tax is now 12%, but I still go with 15% for ease of use.)
