Wow, that final bit with the double-stabbing and the tar/gel swap token was ingenious! It makes a lot of sense, yes, but I simply never would have thought of it.

Very informative article, which should hopefully be helpful to any people playing through TCB or future holds with gel in them.

I have a 4-move solution if the NW gel baby moves before the one east of it (or 5-move it doesn't):

Since I'm posting anyway, I'm going to expand a bit on coppro's post. The behaviour of switchers and doublestabbing is almost unchanged from the way it was when I became a beta tester. I started looking at the tarstuff in detail when I discovered an odd little inconsistency: If Beethro stepped onto a switcher and stabbed tarstuff at the same time, then the switch would happen before the stabbing, but with mimics, the switch happened after the stabbing. This was changed so that the switch always happens before the stabbing.

After playing around a bit more, I discovered the double-stabbing possibility mentioned in the article. I didn't really like this behaviour; it seemed weird that you could hit the tarstuff "simultaneously" and still have a switch take place in between. I tried coming up with an alternate behaviour that would exclude this possibility. I had a few ideas, but all of them led to some weird behaviour in other situations, so the current behaviour was left unchanged. When I wrote the article, I decided that since this form of double-stabbing was possible, I might as well document it.

(Also, I'm not sure why coppro's post was modded down; I didn't see any problem with it. I modded it back up to 0.)

I think someone has a vendetta against me - I've lost about 5 points recently on posts for which the moddown made no sense what so ever... either that or Maurog's finally putting his plan into action.

And which of Maurog's crusade's are you talking about now? I can't see any exploding smiles or quote rainbows in that post.
