1) Are there any actual rewards for solving all the secret rooms on KDD 2.0 and JtRH other than the feeling of having accomplished everything?

2) Are the secret rooms good practice for the SmS? In which case I should do them.

3) Are there secret rooms in the SmS? And do they have a reward as well?

I tried searching for secret rooms but only got hints on how to find them from people who already WANT to find them.

I don't know if I WANT to find them yet

Yes. In both holds, solving all the secret rooms grants you access to otherwise inaccessible areas.

Not particularly.

3) Are there secret rooms in the SmS? And do they have a reward as well?

Yes, all SmS holds have secret rooms. In some of the SmS, solving them grants you access to bonus areas, others do not. That depends on the hold.

Also note that in JtRH and some of the SmS holds, some of the secret rooms don't contain puzzles but rather story/funny scenes. Some people like those, others don't care about them much.

One last question. Is there a way to find out the number of secret rooms on each level? Some people seem to have suggested that's possible. But I can't seem to find the information in the game. Something like 0/1 secret on level 1 found.

Once you have finished the hold, that information will appear on the restore screen.

Hmm. That was an interesting post collision. Just saying this as they are both worded almost the same. But just to stay on topic, many of the SmS/JtRH/KDD secrets are very rewarding. You'll see them when you get there.

You also get notification on the end level stairs of how many secrets you got on the level you just finished - not a huge amount of use until you finish the hold, except in a "You missed something " sort of way

On the subject of secret rooms, I just finished King Dugan's Dungeon 2.0, with 77% secret rooms found. When I went to restore, to find them, I can't restore there, without the room/rooms, sometimes the whole level going red again. How do I avoid this? I didn't seem to have this problem with JTRH.

When you click on a room to restore, the level is reset back to the state it was at when you entered that room for the first time. So any rooms that were unvisited at that point should be grayed out, and any rooms that were visited but unsolved at that point should be red.

In terms of completing or mastering the hold, this really doesn't matter at all. Secrets can be completed in any order, at any point. Also, once you restore back to a previous level, you are still able to restore forward to where you left off.

You can't avoid it. Whether or not other rooms go read when you click on a room depends really on how you played the hold. There's plenty of information about the saving system and its quirks elsewhere in the forums, but the important thing for your case is that it doesn't matter if rooms go read - as long as you solve a secret room it counts, no matter what the status of other rooms is.

This is why a lot of holds have checkpoints by the stairs to the next level - when you step on the checkpoint before going downstairs, you can restore to that checkpoint if you want to go secret-hunting later and have full access to all rooms.

Ok, thank you to all of you for your replies! Two secret rooms I could complete, didn't realize that the status of the other rooms didn't matter so much, once the secret room was done. So, I re-solved all those rooms un-necessarily? UGH!

And never again will I not step on the save spot by the stairs! I have now completed KDD. Back to Beethro's Teacher!
