Beethro I mean. How much time has passed from first stepping into King Dugan's side passage to the end of Beethro's Teacher? Somewhere in the months I'm assuming. I wouldn't be too surprised if they've spent a whole year yet. But most of that comes the the High Path, I wonder how much time the actuall monster smiting has been. Any one have a clue?

When Beethro complete's TCB, i'd say it's a year. Right now...10 months. Just a guess. ;)

Beethro surfaced after KDD. He went under again at the start of JtRH, and continued until today.

"stepping into King Dugan's side passage" refers to the beginning of JtRH, not the ending of KDD.

And yeah, months would be about right.

I guess he eats sleeps, etc while you're not playing.

If he can keep perfectly still while sleeping, that shouldn't be a problem. After all, the monsters only get to move after he does. If he never moves, he can sleep for hours, and all the roaches would just have to sit there and stare at him, waiting for him to move enough so that they'd be allowed to also make a move. I guess learning how to sleep whilst lying absolutely still is one of the first things they teach in smitemasters college.

This makes calculating how long he has been under a lot harder, though, because there is no way to discern how much time he spends just lying/standing still.

My guess is: three days. I'm guessing Beethro grows a beard, after all, and since he doesn't appear to have a stubble yet in any of the pictures that show up in the upper left corner of the game interface...

unless he shaves while walking down stairs. Which would be dangerous. But then... he's used to some danger anyway.

No one has seen him snore!?!?!?!?!?!

Just wait a minute not doing anything and Beethro goes:

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Actually, make sure you kill all monsters in the room first, or you'll be in for a very, very, veeery long wait... :lol

Remember, guys, that DROD is an abstraction. In reality, Beethro steps on the cracks between tiles, his mother's back problems notwithstanding. Goblins sometimes duck. Not to mention the corpses and the messy, messy blood.

So, um, don't take the mechanics of the game as entirely canonical. There are inconsistancies.

Internally, yes it totally is. Externally there's compromises to make the game entertaining.

Our cosistencies aren't consistent.

Like, for example, retrying. And restoring. And undoing. The real Beethro is much, much smarter than you, and plans ahead enough so he doesn't need to.

A raygun that destroys walls, creates bridges, and annihilates swords? Now *that* would be something :)

Putting the hold into scale, how long is each move supposed to be?

A second? 2? 5? 6? or something else completely?

I don't think it's at all possible to move that fast, unless you're running (I believe it's written somewhere in the site that one tile=3 feet). But I'm not an expert at Eighth physics (or whatever the Eighth term is).

Anyways, I believe that Beethro eats on the stairs as previosly said, In fact there's probabally a monster safe zone in the middle of the staircase, JUST out of view.

Now how it's monster safe and why doesn't the rest of the hold have no monster prooving, I don't know... Conspiracy theories anyone?

It's simple, really. You might have noticed that Beethro's a rather large man ? This is not a coincidence. See, Beethro is an expert Smitemaster. A pro. When moving at such high speeds, Beethro simply uses the momentum of his fat to fling himself around. Watching Beethro take out monsters in this way is like watching a beautiful, if somewhat disturbing, dance of death. Getting to watch it is a privilege that is certain to bring tears to your eyes.

If that was true, Beethro would clear whole lines at a time.

Ah, but he can! Remember that the game that you and I play is only an abstraction. When Beethro needs to change direction in midair, he can accomplish this by using his really big sword as a counterweight.

- Gerry

If anyone was in doubt, this is all exceptionally unofficial. Not canon at all. In fact, canon just points at this information and laughs, and doesn't invite it to parties.

If that was the case, the sword would have to be really ...

I don't have the full version of JtRH yet, so I see them all of the time.

Maybe I should ask my mum to buy it for me for a christmas present. Then the hard part would be making sure that she doesn't play it first... :(
