Hi,
I'm finding this level hard, though I know it shouldn't be. I can't seem to kill all the bugs before I get myself killed by Slayer. Please would someone give me a hint on which beetle to kill first. My instincts keep going for the bottom left, but it all goes wrong when the wisp catches me. I have tried going directly, indirectly and diagonally. Any help would be appreciated. Many Thanx

Hi toxshock --

It almost doesn't matter which queen you kill first (although I'd probably go for the one on the bottom).

What matters is how you deal with the Slayer.

Generally, if you are really mefficient, go for the NE queen first, then the NW queen, then the SW queen.

I'm sorry, I feel stupid, I know I've done harder rounds. I took both pieces of advice, large cirles and thought I got close, but couldnt replicate it. I'm not good at losing the wisp. I also tried killing him, but the bugger isn't having it and kills me instead. If anyone feels there is any further help to give, that would be nice. Thanks

Well, what happens? You don't need to lose the wisp...just keep far enough ahead of it that the Slayer takes too long to catch you.

If you're really stumped, you can ask for a demo. But I'd bet it's just a matter of a few more tries and you'll have it.

Josh

If the Slayer has you on track and won't stop, what you can do is get close to him and make him rotate his hook. Then he will stop and wait for the wisp to find you again before he starts moving. This will give you time to kill some more roaches and roach queens. Then if he gets too close again, make him stop and then move again.

Game on,

Actually, I first solved this one by going into the NE cubbyhole, then getting back out just as the Slayer entered the room. From then on it wasn't that hard to get the other two roach queens, though the upper left took a while before I got something that worked.

Considering that was my first DROD outing, I think I did pretty well on this room :)

Slayer-killing is definitely a situational activity . . . depends on the room configuration.

There are several threads on killing the "unkillable" Slayer. This link goes to one of the more informative ones.

You will need to use a bit of timing, and which way your sword is helps.

There is a certain area around the slayer in which he will stop following the wisp, and just swing his hook. Use this to your advantage.

If you still don't get it, ask and I will give some room specific hints.

Also, on a similar note, don't let any two parts of the wisp touch. Make the path as curvy as you want, but if one curve ever touches another, he will just skip right across and you will see a whole lot of the wisp just vanish.

AAck! I killed two of the roach queens and the slayer got me before I could kill the third! This is soooo frustrating! I understand what I should do but I keep screwing up! Aargh! :blowup

Yay, blowup downmods. I always wanted one of them.

In that case, count out how many moves it will take to kill that queen, and make sure that the slayer is far away enough to be able to do that.
