Our university seems to have switched from CVS to SVN (Subversion); I'm not in position to compare them but Subversion sounds soo cool ! I wonder how do Chineese google for Subversion the software, does it trigger any alarms at local police station or what ?

At work, we have switched over to subversion from CVS. I have to say, it is much more pleasant to work with than CVS. Branching and merging are a much ... better ... operation than in CVS. And the speed difference is phenominal.

Yeah, it would be ridiculous to work on a team development project without version control. We've got CVS now, and are storing some of our media files in SVN. In the future, we might be completely running from SVN. But since our CVS repository is working fine now, there's no compelling reason to make the switch. SVN is really a joy. It fixes a lot of the clunkiness of CVS and transfer speeds on binary files are great.

How strange, I am using SVN too :). Gradual conversion from CVS to SVN is reasonable way - peoples can't used to new system for one day.
