I'd update the bar picture thing, but I can't use Excel at the moment. I still have the old Excel file, though. The problem is, I can't figure out how to display the chart correctly in other programs like OpenOffice. I can make the chart, no problems there, but I've not managed to figure out how to set the items on X-axis to be at appropriate distances from each other (instead of having even gaps between each date). Anyone familiar with the program able to tell if there's a way to do this I'm missing?
In OpenOffice.org 2.0, choose an XY chart instead of a line chart, then choose a variant that does have lines.
In more detail, assuming you have OpenOffice.org 2.0, and your dates and corresponding values are in adjacent rows or columns and sorted by date:
Select the data. Menu>
insert>
chart.
In the "
AutoFormat Chart"
dialog, uncheck both "
first row as label"
and "
first column as label"
. "
Next"
.
Select "
XY chart"
, and set "
Data series in ..."
so that it makes sense. "
Next"
.
Choose a "
xy chart"
variant with lines between data points. (This gives you a valid line graph IF your dates are sorted, which I assume they are.) Set up the grid to your liking. "
Next"
.
Titling etc; you certainly don't need me in this section. "
Create"
.
