Try typing this without using the Alt Code.

♠♠♠♠♣♣♣♣☻☻☻☻◘◘◘◘••••♥♥♥♥☺☺☺☺

Yep. I had to use Alt Single Number for some of the code, but ♦♦♦♦♠♠♠♠ is possible without using any Alt Codes.

Well, since I admitted that ♠♠♠♠♣♣♣♣☻☻☻☻◘◘◘◘••••♥♥♥♥☺☺☺☺ requires an alt code, that is not part of the real challenge.

However, ♦♦♦♦♠♠♠♠ is the real challenge. Try to make this statement (?) without the alt codes or copying and pasting (ctrl-c, ctrl-v).

It's hard to do it, but it's certainly possible.

Results in:
♠♠♠♠♦♦♦♦
All the other characters can be done with Unicode as well, but I'm too lazy to look them up. Not hard though, it's the standard procedure for getting special characters in html.

Nice work, you win Challenge #1, Jutt!

Next challenge:

I use a Windows XP, and a Wireless Logitech Mouse. How did I make ♠♠♠♠♦♦♦♦?

Exactly the same way, just using the onscreen keyboard available in "Accesibility"

The point of an on-screen keyboard is that you don't need a real keyboard, so calamarain's answer works technically.

Having said that, you're obviously looking for the character map that's found under System Tools in the Start menu.

Yes, it's true that calamarain's answer works, it's not how I used it.

Mine was with using my mouse, I didn't even touch the keyboard.

Hint: as said before, I use a Wireless Logitech Mouse. For any of you who use this object and have explored the abilities of it, this should be easy.

My answer wouldn't involve touching the keyboard. It would just involve clicking on a representation of one on the screen ;)

the special buttons on the mouse produce special characters if you've got a text box selected.

You mean the page forwards and backwards buttons? If so, than yes! Excellent work, NiroZ!

I'm done with my little challenge now. If anybody else wants to make one following the rules of the topic, then they can.

EDIT: I have another challenge for you.

Try to breath in through your nose while drinking (no, you don't have to have the liquid go down your esophagus while breathing (or trying, for that matter), just have the liquid in your mouth while breathing through your nose). Since this is possible and a little on the easy side, try to drink the entirety of whatever you are drinking, never taking it off your mouth.

ITYM "two clicks and a drag".

What's with all those screen-keyboards? Just select the jumbled mess of low-ASCII characters and drag the selection into the textarea. Problem solved.

No, dragging would technically involve holding the mouse button down while moving.

Wait - so first he wanted to know how to do it without copying and pasting, and now it's allowed again and thus the bleedingly obvious solution?

I say, that's like showing someone your watch and asking him what time it is - unless you have one of those watches that displays the time in binary... ;)

Quote replying isn't copying and pasting. Well maybe the forum is doing it for me, but other people are using helping programs etc so I can too :P

The trouble with most watches that display the time in binary is that they don't display the time in binary, they display the decimal digits of base-60 time in binary. So 10:39 would be
0001 0000 0011 1001, or maybe 1010:100111 if you're lucky.
What they should do is keep hours the same and divide each hour up into 64 "minutes".

Then you can easily tell half-past, quarter-past etc, and you won't be too far off if you need to catch a bus or something.

But since binary is so much less efficient than the normal systems, no one who uses it really has room to complain.

I got a new watch the other day, which only has a small ball bearing instead of hands, with a magnet underneath to make it indicate the time. It's utterly impractical, only accurate to the nearest 5 minutes, useless in the dark and brilliant :)

Depends how you're representing it.

The standard 7-segment digital display uses 7 bits per digit, that makes 28 in total(or 27 if you only use 6 for the tens of hours)

My suggestion (24 hour with 64 minutes per hour) uses 5 bits for the hour, 6 bits for the minutes. Only 11 in all.

$ignificant $aving$!

12- or 24-hour time? If 12, then would you only need 2 bits for the tens of hours (1 or blank)?

3 bits, actually, since for 12 hour time you'll also need a PM/AM indicator, which would take 1 more bit.

Yeah, but if it's "one or none" you could simply control both segments of the "1" with the same bit...
