Here's a new tarstuff idea--The Proverbial Rut.
The Rut can not exist without a Rut Mother. Every spawn cycle, it grows back to the original Rut orientation. If anything is in the Rut growth, it dies...because it's stuck in The Rut.
There is no such thing as a Rut baby. The Rut will grow over anything--including Briar. No sharp
witsbits can remove The Rut.
In fact, the only way to remove The Rut is to bump into it orthogonally. Often, with The Rut, it takes physical violence to get one out of it. Interestingly, though, monsters can also bump into The Rut to kill it off (orthogonally only. It's tough to put oomph into a diagonal bump. Some force will always bounce off--it takes one's full efforts to knock off a piece of The Rut.)
