Are we allowed to provide the background (backstory) for our submissions? If yes, will they be taken into consideration on voting time?

I think they should be. Here's some background for my submission:

I ran out of time while composing my artwork, because my shift at the local soup kitchen ran late. Then I lost more time by stopping on the way home to administer first aid to some baby seals I found along the roadside. The quality of my art suffered because of the cold I caught after I gave all my winter coats to local orphans.

So even though my artwork sucks, won't you please find it in your hearts to rate it 10 anyway?

My experince with including backstory with my entries is that if I post it with the item, it just doesn't get included. :?

What I have noticed is that others just make it part of the item they have submitted, rather than writing text in the submission topic.

I decided to do that myself this time so I wrote on the bottom of my picture just like an artist might rather than writing it in the submission topic. :)

I've not made any rules for or against backstory. So I'll make it clear now: If you include backstory for your piece, I'll include it in the poll, so everyone can see it. Don't go overboard making it *too* long - if it's five pages of text, I'm not going to include it :) Use your best judgement.

However, be aware that it's the art that's going to be judged, not the story behind it. The story is just there to give it flavour and life :) So it *will* be included, but you won't be judged on it.

Just posted my submission for this contest. It was fun to draw something Drod related.
Also it made me realize it has been quite a while since I drew something decent. I really should do that more often.

There's a few entries in, but not many :) So, guys, time to get submitting! Get those creative brains working, even if it's just a stick figure drawing, that's a good idea!
