Yes, you are correct about what is to be done to complete this room. As for the golem placement... What you need is four golems at the corners of 3x3 square. You know, you can create this formation at any place inside the orthosquare region, and then "move" it to the center, where the doors are.

Ooh, this was such a difficult room. But yeah, igusarov here is right. Be sure you provide an offset to take into account your need to go all the way around the box.
