Me! I'm a very good actor! But If I have to pick someone from a movie I'll pick Harrison Ford.

I think perhaps Jim Carrey, Rowan Atkinson or John Cleese. They just crack me up.

Totally.

Or maybe Hugo Weaving (Elrond in LotR, Agent Smith in Matrix).

Sorry, I was never a big fan of movie stars like everyone else was. I just never saw what the big deal was.

Actors I particularly enjoy watching:

Bill Murray
William H. Macy
Kevin Spacey
Sean Connery

Actresses I particularly enjoy watching:

Scarlett Johansson
Sigourney Weaver
Alyson Hannigan
Natalie Portman

That's just a short list, though. I like movies even though I rarely get to see them anymore.

:erms and generally pays more attention to what the director and cinematographer are doing than to what actors are in a film... It's not an actor that makes a movie great, it's the direction, camerawork, and editing.

Therefore, I'd rather find out a film is, say, a Martin Scorsese or Ridley Scott film and go for that reason, than go because it's got Tom Cruise in a starring role that panders to his bloated self-worth.

Actually, a great film is greater than the sum of its parts I think. You're right about directors etc, but for a film to be truly great it also has to have something special in the performances of the actor/actresses, wouldn't you say?

I have no time at all for Hollywood egos, in fact the whole "cult of celebrity" thing apalls me. The two living actors I named are not Hollywood types at all, but they are both outstanding actors with such expressive faces they can draw one into a character.

( . . . . and eyes to die for! ;) )

:laughs: OK, good point there... I guess I've just gotten a little jaded of late with all the 'pretty face' actors in films. I'll take good acting over a pretty face any day.

:goes to get the Rear Window DVD and re-watch it. Can't go wrong with James Stewart absolutely *nailing* a role that's completely different from what he normally played:
