The results have been in for a while, and I guess I should sum it all up in ceremonial fashion!
Firstly, congratulations to
Golfrman and
Tokyokid for trying a Caravel contest for the first time! You both get a rookie bonus of 10 rank points.
Chaco picked up third place with his cautionary tale of a trip to the library. Some criticized the lengthy amount of time spent with your character doing uneventful, irrelevant things. But for me, honestly, this aspect of the hold underscored how bad, unexpected things can happen when you are doing something ordinary.
Ezlo's 2nd place winner was about a Shakespeare theater production in which he acted. I got unexpectedly verklempt about Clayton's sword finding its way to a noble purpose. That's the kind of personal connection I wanted the Prize Pile to inspire, after all!
Tahnan copied Ezlo by also making a story about acting in a theater production. Okay, maybe he didn't copy him, but we did have 1st and 2nd prize going to stories involving the theater. Coincidence? Also two stories about plane trips--what's up with that? A highlight (or irritation, depending who you are) of the hold was the requirement of the player to solve a puzzle and enact part of a play.
So Tahnan won and gets 100 rank points plus any item of his choosing from
the Prize Pile. Send me an
e-mail to let me know which prize you want.
Tahhhhhh-nannnnnnn!
Ezlo gets 50 rank points, and Chaco gets 25. Hooray!
I personally enjoyed all of the stories, and was very happy with the turnout for a contest that requires a large amount of effort for participation.
