Simon Tatham's Puzzles - Free:
For Nikoli-style games, I can't really imagine a more fitting app. Simon Tatham (The PuTTy guy) wrote
implementations of many different generic logic puzzles. Each has a puzzle generator for "
unlimited"
levels. 34 of them were ported to Android by Chris Boyle. This is one of the first things I ever put on my Android phone, and it has followed me ever since.
Pixel Dungeon - Free:
This is a great rogue-like made for small touch screens. 4 (later 12) different character classes and 20+ levels. Intuitive controls and interesting game play.
Space Team - Free:
Have 1 - 3 friends with Android/iOS phone(s)/tablet(s)? If so, get this! Each member of your ad hoc space team gets a randomly generated control panel, and a series of instructions. The trick is that you probably won't have the controls requested, you'll have to tell your friends. Of course, they will have their own list as well.
Good Luck!
Bad Piggies - Free:
It's Angry Birds for engineers. You get to build crazy contraptions to move your pig through various obstacles and reach the ending. I never bothered finishing it, but I had some fun with it for a while. For free, you can't really go wrong though.
Also, Amazon gives out a free app every day, but it requires you to install their side-loaded app store.
Here is the link, but there isn't anything fun today (in my opinion). Usually, you don't get anything that great, but I have gotten quite a few wonderful gems there,
