Great news! This will also no doubt attract a bundle of new players.

The current IGS game is Weird Worlds: Return to Infinite Space. I don't know much about this game except that it once beat DROD in some indie game poll. Is it good?

The prior game is apparently called Strange Adventures in Infinite space and became free at some point, so maybe I'll get to trying that out.

Hey, all -- I just heard back from the guys at Indie Game Stand that they are scheduling DROD: Gunthro and the Epic Blunder to be featured from December 11-14. We will have some great bonus content for those who pay above the average: the exclusive Flood Warning expansion and the DROD soundtrack available for sale on the Caravel Games site.

Great!

I have been following the IGS since mrimer posted about it, and for what I see the averages are currently very low. For the current game is 2.42$ and this is with some more games as an incentive for paying above the average (usually it is only the game soundtrack).

I think the first few hours are crucial for having a good/high average, since
(1) in the first sales the number of games sold is smaller and thus the average is easier to raise
(2) a lot of people pay just above the average to get the bonus content (I guess) so the average increases very slowly

What do you guys think about trying to raise the average by purchasing some GatEBs for friends and family during the first minutes of the sale? It is a good opportunity to get the game at a cheaper (or the same :) ) price, and give Caravel a hand!

mrimer, do you know at what time (and time zone) does the GatEB sale start?

Just my two cents.

All indie game stand games last 96 hours, and start at 12 AM Eastern, so December 11 at 12 AM Eastern (it is 2 game cycles from now)

The bundle is worth it for dungeon defenders alone. Great game if you have a buddy to play it with.

Speaking of bundles nobody heard about, Groupees Build Your Own Greenlight Bundle is a sweet sweet deal - choose at least 2 out of the 9 games, choose your own price (minimum 0.75$ per game), and the best part of all - you also get the new and improved La-Mulana plus all its soundtracks!

The games are DRM free or Desura. Not only that, but if and when these games manage to go through the Greenlight process, they will send you a Steam key as well. It's really a sweet deal all around.

The games involved are:
Wooden Sen'Sey
Oozi: Earth Adventure
Eryi's Action
"Beware Planet Earth!"
Millennium: A New Hope
Recruits
Private Infiltrator
Salvation Prophecy
I Shall Remain

and LA-MULANA as a bonus.

The current weekly bundle is pretty good. Highlights include our own Terry Cavanagh's VVVVVV, the smashingly narrated puzzle platformer Thomas Was Alone, the ninja janitorial platformer Dustforce, and the premium version of the immensely popular Cave Story. The $10 tier features Teslagrad, a puzzle platformer which I've heard both good and bad things about, and the middle tier is surprisingly much less exciting than top or bottom.

I thought V^6 was our own Terry's. Not that either he or increpare are really ours to begin with. They get, like, NYT profiles of their games and stuff.

Two of the best Humble Bundles in a while are going on now. We have a bunch of scifi and fantasy novels and various games by 2k games, such as Bioshock and X-COM. At the moment, DLC is not included. However, more items are supposed to be added to each bundle as it goes on, so check back later if you're on the fence now.

The weekly bundle looks pretty decent too, but I can only personally vouch for Antichamber, which should appeal to DROD players a great deal.

Do I need Steam to buy these? Because I dislike Steam very very very much but it looks like I might not need to do it through them.

The gaming bundles are a mix -- there's an icon set under each game. In the 2K bundle for example, only BioShock 1 is available DRM-free and the other games are Steam-only. The weekly bundle has more DRM-free options.

(At least) four of the games available in the current Humble Bundle were rated 9.0 or higher at IGN, with SteamWorld Dig being the star at 9.5. Might be worth checking out.

Wouldn't it be great if Gunthro and the Epic Blunder were part of a Humble Indie bundle sometime soon?

Yep, sure! To make this happen, I think we need players to write them and request it.

Do a whole bunch of PDF puzzle books made by expert, creative constructors count as electronic games? I mean, they're technically electronic until you print them, and puzzles are kinda games.

Anyway, the latest Humble Book Bundle is pretty fantastic for people who like puzzles. I imagine DROD types fall into that category.
