Well folks, it seems that since we have a brand new Official Number for The Eighth, we should start making use of it in more general terms too. With that in mind, here is this month's official contest:
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to do some creative writing. Since pi is 3.14159etc, and since we've already done a contest that made good use of the part before the decimal point, this time we're going to make use of the second part of the number.
Rules of the Contest
1. Your entry must not contain more than 1,415.9 words.
2. Your entry must have a beginning, a middle, and an end
3. Your entry must contain Eighth-related puns. We encourage you to include
lots of puns; as many puns as you can, short of ruining the entertainment value of your entry (because usually,
too many puns is terrible).
4. Aside from the above restrictions, your submission can be in any form, and can be about anything at all. If you want to enter a series of Haiku that tells a story, that's fine. If you want to submit a mockumentary, go for it. If you just want to write some prose, that's fine too. Please though, no porn; this is the Internet, show some class.
5. You may enter up to 3 times. If you enter more than 3 times, only your most recent 3 will be used. All entries must be posted in the
submission topic no later than
Local Time:05-22-2011 at 10:00 PM.
6. Voting will take place from
Local Time:05-23-2011 at 03:00 PM to
Local Time:05-31-2011 at 10:00 PM, and will be based entirely upon how entertaining each entry is. It's a good ol' fashioned opinion vote, folks!
Prizes
First place winner gets any item of his/her choosing from the Prize Pile and 100 rank points. The second- and third-place runner-ups get 50 and 25 rank points, respectively. If the same person wins two prizes, they will take the higher ranking one and everyone else will be shuffled up.
Now, what did I miss...
Note: entries close and voting begins a day early on this one because I will be out of the Country and likely without Internet starting on the 24th, and I want to make sure I don't forget to put up the poll before I leave. If there is a problem with the polls or vote thread in that time, I will leave it in the capable hands of our marvelously talented admin team.
