in this game it has no turns and jumps but there are two new modes rattlesnake and adder but watch to see if they can be all dead like in the original game.

Well, what should I say about this hold?

This is a hold that tried to show an example of how the original Snakes! ...to the Death contest worked, at least supposedly. In a non-interactive way.

It's a hold worth playing if you're a completionist, or you'd like some easy scores for CaravelNet. Otherwise, not worth playing.

PS. One HA comment was: " There is one thing I noticed, which is that if the player enters and clears some room, say, the serpent room, then re-enters it, they become stuck due to an infinite cutscene." Be warned.

"Playing" is a strong word. "Walking through" is closer, and even that suggests that there's actually something to do, which there isn't. I'm not even clear on what it is that this is illustrating.

I wouldn't call it "walking through" since you don't do that much walking. I'd go with "watching".

Hmmm.

I'm not sure this should even count as a published hold but here it is.

What I will say (without having any in-depth knowledge of hold scripting) is that it must have been pretty time-consuming to set up the cut scenes (unless you can just put a monster down and have them follow the usual movement rules).

Not sure what else to add really :?

My rating:

Difficulty: 1 (I would probably have put 0 but 1 appears to be the lowest value I can choose)
Fun: 1

It's a very interesting first attempt and I'm glad you're trying your hand at making holds. I'm sure you learned a lot.

That said, I'm not sure what the point of this hold is. There are no puzzles, you just go into a room, watch everything die, then leave. Most people think it's more fun if there is something to figure out.

That'd be it. In fact, you can't even script snakes, so if you want snakes, all you can do is let them follow their usual movement rules.

Well, I suppose you could use NPCs with custom all-transparent graphics to guide the snakes. Pop them in and out as needed, even. Man, where was I for the dirty tricks contest?

Fun hold to watch. No puzzles, but but I do remember the contest on which this was based.

The infinite cutscene problems could have been fixed with just a wee bit of scripting, so it's unfortunate that it made it into the final hold.

3 fun, 0.5 brain
