Ok, i'm getting a little crazy. It's the second time that i dream drod. This night i dreamed a DROD:TCB hold. Maybe god want that i make some incredible rooms? They were fantastic, and i didn't never see them.

Beethro was talking too. Maybe a prediction of the upcoming SMS style?

Heh, that's an odd coincidence, yesterday I was going to post a topic with this exact title, only I kept forgetting to get round to it.

My dream was very strange. The Tendry's Tale hold had been recreated, life-size, in Duplo, and you could walk around it and actually fight all the monsters. (There were some extra monsters, too -- ones that ran backwards and forwards in a straight line so you needed some agility to get past them.) I was leading my family around the levels and teaching them how to play the game and make strategic decisions....

A very interesting dream, because I never realised before that until now I'd always missed two attack gems and six keys that are just lying there for the taking if you go round the back of the Dinosaurs' Cave in Rule 5 before you enter it....

I've never precisely had a DROD dream... but I have had a related thing. I don't remember what the dream was about beside the fact that it was weird... but what I do remember is how it ended.

As I was waking up, I clearly dreamed one sentence... spoken in the right voice.

"Keep running, delver..."

It was both cool and creepy.

Your younger self might be able to help you fill in the details! There are also more DROD-related dreams in the thread too.

I can't remember if I have ever had a DROD-related dream myself, but I did have one relating to the forum.

I very rarely remember my dreams, so it's a big surprise when I do remember them.

I have a few dreams here:

A very, very, very long time ago, I dreamed I was a 6 year old girl who was playing with some strange physical toy. I had no control over the dream and it felt out of perspective. In that dream, I didn't do anything extraordinary, making me wonder why I would remember such a boring dream.

More recently, I remember a dream about how I was reading a book. Oddly enough, what I thought was going to happen next actually happened. I had no control over this dream either, so I couldn't assume what was going to happen.

Very recently, I dreamed that my rank points were increasing exponentially. I started with about 35, then it increased to about 195, then it increased again to about 2400. I had no idea what I was posting to get such awesome rank increases, but it must have been good stuff.

I also have unusual dreams that are like I take control of the dream. Although instead of being able to summon and remove things from the dream, I controlled the entire dream itself. Positioning, layout, graphics, objects within, time, quantum location, you name it, I could do it. It was very cool since I thought I was master of the universe at this time. Then my alarm went off and I snapped out of it. Oh well.

Most of the dreams I remember were from those times I was given a generic for my sleep meds. It's always the same sort of thing, and I hate it.

It's like facing the twelve labors of Hercules every night. I always make sure my prescriptions say Dispense as Written now.

I do remember a few video-game-related dreams, and a few Caravel ones, too. None about DROD, though.
The most vivid Caravel-related one is actually a SubTerra dream that I was woken in the middle of. I can't remember the events leading up to it, but right before I woke up I was playing SubTerra using a mouse on a computer in an unfamiliar room. I kept on walking back and forth over two side-by-side cloner switches trying to figure out why only one of them triggered the next cloning machine. That's the only event I remember in the dream. A little brown thief is walking left and right. The room is silent. I am sitting. Somewhere in the world, paint is drying.

I soon felt something pulled from under me and woke up to my sister whacking me with my pillow. Then I found myself lying in bed awake trying to piece back together the flawed logic I had in the dream, because the situation was clearly impossible, though I concluded it was somehow possible in the dream.

Wow, luckily I don't dream like Kwakstur.

My dreams are always happy and fun, and I don't want them to end. They usually mix certain places and events which aren't whatsoever connected to each other.

For example, a few weeks ago I had a dream about a house I stayed in on holiday a couple of months ago. The strange thing is that people were there who weren't there in RL. Suddenly the house changed into some chinese restaurant, and I was just about to eat that lovely piece of chicken, when I woke up. Strange.

Which brings me to the next subject. When I'm about to eat something in a dream, I know it's over soon, because dreams won't ever let me eat or drink.

And I can usually control the dream, but when I wake up I always think about what I should've done differently. Very weird indeed. -_-

By the way, one of the more recent being-chased dreams was related to DROD now that I think about it. I was in this maze being chased by a giant made out of rocks. Here's the DROD-y things I remember:
1. The camera had an overhead perspective, so I could always see both the rock beast and me.
2. It was brown.
3. It always moved directly towards me.
4. Here's a significant one: It didn't "slide" very well against walls when moving sort of into one. I had to use this to my advantage.
I originally thought this dream was all about Shadow the Hedgehog. After all, the monster had a health bar, and there were Rings and weapons. But remembering those above details, I think the monster itself was a Rock Golem from DROD.

Look at that, I'm mixing video games willy-nilly in my dreams.

Wow. I had just the most amazing and vivid dream this morning. It was honestly so cool that it was worth accidentally being late for work.

My consciousness was in the form of Shrek the Ogre. I had Donkey traveling with me of course. I seemed to be going to a small city called Seville. I had remembered Seville before, but it had always remained unnamed. It was like I was watching a movie, except it was all around me. Very cool. I was watching Shrek and Donkey travel down a rocky path into a bleak valley. After spending a few weeks lost in the mist, they decide to stick to a single path. While in the mist, they encountered Golem from Lord of the Rings, except he was slimy and deformed. They agreed that Golem would show them the way through the mist to the other side of the valley. In a fit of rage, Shrek angrily threw Golem into a large, dark pit; one that Golem warned them to never enter, no matter what seemed to lay at the bottom.

At this time, my consciousness switched over to Golem. He was tortured by the "Beings of the Pit". They cursed him to become a horrible, tortured, wretched being of darkness. He crawled to some of his other cursed friends and brought together an army to track down Shrek. They escaped from the pit, and began the long trek to Seville, where Shrek was closeby. Shrek and Donkey watched from a high cliff as the slime beings fought the defenders of Seville. There were too many slime beings, so the canyon was overrun by them. Not believing what they just saw, they walked, albeit dumbfounded, to Seville. Some frightened guards rapidly brought them to the upper city, since the lower city was overrun by the slime beings. The slime beings fought their way up to the top of the city, and just when it seemed like was going to fail, I woke up.

That's quite a dream. Still quite vivid in my memory.

Darn you all lucky maniacs, I never had a single DROD dream... Well, that's not entirely true. If I recall correctly I remember remembering I had some DROD influence in one of my dreams, quite probably back in AE times where I wrecked havoc in middle-later levels of KDD. But what it was I can not remember unfortunately :weep.

*at this place of writing skell learned that drinking coffee while typing results in choking and splashing almost drunk coffee all over the table*

As for dreams overall however, I quite often remember them and made a habit of writing short (2-10 book pages long) stories about them if I find them a material good enough to adapt to story :). I wish I could share some with you, but since they are written in Polish and so far I know of only one other person understanding this language on this forum I guess I will pass (and no, translation is NOT an option - laziness wins) ;).

I've never heard of anything named "S***n". How is that pronounced? As for "Lucifer", the Latin roots seem to mean "bringer of light", so perhaps we're looking at some sort of heroic or even godly figure, cf. Genesis 1:3?

I dream of DROD style layouts most of the time... as in a grid version of possible movements.

I've also solved many complex rooms whilst asleep, and made sure I played as soon as I was aware.

Now that is pretty cool. Could I possibly have some of those brain circuits of yours? :)

I did have a DROD dream myself recently, though. It involved me attemping to clear a TCB room in numerous ways. I can't remember exactly what happened, but I don't think I was successful.

Reporting on duty. Had a mess-dream.

I was in one of DROD rooms myself, it was like a First-person view. I saw roaches around, not moving. Not knowing how to kill them. I was swordless... Then, I saw a strange thing in a room, picked it up and then... "Very good. You are now in possesion of the aperture science handheld portal device"... Then, roaches suddenly said "Hello?" and started firing at me... I had to use portals so they'd turn upside down and die, but i woke up when i killed the first one. Sheesh.

I had one about playing the Second Sky just a couple of hours ago, thanks to napping.

One new feature was basically color-coded trapdoors: Red and blue.

The red trapdoors started off working as normal, but blue trapdoors started off "phased out". To switch between the two, you had to move onto a special switch to cause the red ones to phase out and the blue ones to phase in.

One really cool thing was that while phased out, they effectively didn't exist. So you had a bridge with 1 regular trapdoor, 1 red, and 1 blue on both ends. Now you could cross it 3 times, but the problem would be that you'd end up on the side without an exit out of the room. You could cross it only twice, but then you wouldn't have enough time to reach the switch and drop the bridge before a bomb detonated and closed off your entrance to the room.

Click here to view the secret text

The red trapdoor...doors were orange, the blue trapdoor doors were teal. Having the doors phased out wasn't enough to drop them, you had to actually drop all of them for that to happen. The regular pink trapdoors were still there and didn't phase in or out at all.

Another one was a new monster: the Miniserpent. Same movement pattern as a Serpent, down to only orthongonal movement, but only took up one tile. Dies the same way as a regular red Serpent. Did take one out by causing a red trapdoor to phase out while it was over it, leaving it with nowhere to move and thus killing it the next turn.

Then there was also this weird thing with an axe for a weapon, but I woke up before I could see what it did.

I need to nap more often.
