I think this is pretty related of a question.
Is there a way to make a weapon that doesn't let you turn simply by moving? More like sword than any of the bonus weapons.
Here's the gist of what I'm thinking of doing:

×I kind of want to try to make that double-edged sword I suggested for that contest, but it would kind of be unworkable with dagger style movement.
I'm not sure if it would even be possible to implement the different unique puzzle elements involved. Ones that would make it have puzzle potential outside of 'bomb mazes' and the like.
All of the ones I had come up with would require limiting player movement in some way. For those who didn't read that contest/submission, it was essentially a RBS that also had a rear facing RBS.
One of the downsides were that it took two moves to turn rather than any of the other weapons one. It also couldn't move over obstacles. Which would let you actually turn the double edged sword in one turn, via movement. Obstacle being 'any square you would not be able to stand on'.
An issue I just realized was what happens if the either blade of the double edged sword ended up on a invalid square, such as tunnel movement, doors closing and the like. Thinking on it now this would probably work somewhat similar to 'closed door movement'; you could move out, but you couldn't move to an invalid square.
Of course at this point I realized that as it was this was not actually a completely terrible idea, so I tacked on something to make it fit in better with 'bad ideas'. Where moving directly into an obstacle, with the result of player death, instead of just being blocked. Though it in itself would provide some puzzle opportunities. Probably not really fun ones, though.
I'm kind of more interested in the 'making this' rather than having a specific hold in mind to make.
While writing that up, I did think of a silly little weapon that I also want to try making.

×An 'intelligent' sword that wouldn't set off bombs/kegs, possibly not harming allies, depending on how hard it is to program. But due to the intelligent part, it can't go against force arrows.
They're pretty silly ideas, but it's a bit more about pushing the limits of what is possible in the scripting engine. If anyone ends up being able to create something interesting with 'em, all the better.
