Just for the record, I had 64 (I'm saying this because I didn't send mine in, so you won't know from that).

It seemed like there was a lot of intimidation in play. I only received four demos.

Dischorran - 62
VIPCOOL - 65
noma - 70
TRIPLEM - 87

As an added treat, halyavin's DROD-bot stopped by and kicked everybody's butt. Attached is his 147-move demo.

Well, I'm sorry to say, people, but after watching this endeavor, I conclude that we don't stand a chance against a robot rebellion.

If we ever make powerful robots with artificial intelligence, I'll sleep every night with one eye open.

Cool. And crap. I really should have found that; it's a variation of my original eternal pattern from the first hold.

Haha, that's wild. I had no idea you'd suggested that before. But I suppose it makes sense - we've established in the past that you and I are the same person existing in different hemispheres.

I'm going to extend the deadline by an additional 24 hours from its expiration. I'm missing too many votes. I'll PM all players who haven't yet sent their votes in.

Edit: Actually, this board appears to follow old DST rules, which confuses this round's deadlines. Let's just say the new deadline is 24 hours from the time of this edit.

Tribal Council #6

Welcome to our second post-merge Tribal Council. We learned at the last vote that players voted off are now joining the jury. Do you have what it takes to vote somebody off now and still convince them to vote for you to win should you reach the finals? I'll read the votes.

First vote...

To the remaining players - could you each choose a number between 1 and 8? Post in this thread with your decision. Each number is first-come first-served. You cannot choose a number that has already been chosen.

Waiting on either mxvladi or Dex Stewart to pick 2 or 6. In the interest of moving this along, I'll give them another hour or so before I just flip a coin.

By random draw, mxvladi got 2 and Dex Stewart got 6.

Challenge 7: RPS Tournament

The numbers you chose represent your tournament seeding. This is a standard 8-player single-elimination bracket.

(Round 1)
Match 1: (1)noma vs (8)Maurog
Match 2: (2)mxvladi vs (7)kie
Match 3: (3)larrymurk vs (6)Dex Stewart
Match 4: (4)VIPCOOL vs (5) TripleM
(Round 2)
Match 5: Match 1 winner vs. Match 4 winner
Match 6: Match 2 winner vs. Match 3 winner
(Final Round)
Match 7: Match 5 winner vs Match 6 winner

Paying respect to a recent forum contest and to a challenge run in DROD Survivor 1, we will be conducting a Rock/Paper/Scissors tournament. But we're going to be playing it a little differently.

Each match will consist of three throws against your opponent. The player that wins the majority of the three throws will advance in the tournament. If a match ends in a tie, the player with the most recent victory advances. For example, if Bob wins the first throw, Alice wins the second, and they draw on the third, Alice advances. If all three throws result in draws, we will hold tiebreaker throws until a winner is decided.

Here's the catch: You're playing with a limited pool of throws. Each player starts the game with 3 rock, 3 paper, and 3 scissors. As soon as you use one, it is removed from your pool for the remainder of the tournament. I will track everybody's remaining pool publicly. Tiebreaker throws are independent of your pool.

We will approach this one throw at a time. You have 24 hours to PM me your first throw. Once I have throws form everybody, I will post results and the timer for the next throw will begin. You will always have 24 hours to submit a throw after results are posted. If I have throws from everybody, I will post the results immediately. Just make sure you're checking the forum daily and you should be okay. I'll also accept submissions in advance. If you miss the deadline, I'll assume you threw rock (if you have no rock, I'll assume you threw paper - no paper or rock, I'll assume scissors).

Challenge starts now! PM me your submissions!

It'll be interesting to see what strategies were used on round 1.. I was initially thinking the strategy was obvious, but maybe not..

Apologies for the delay - I'll have results for the first throw up tomorrow.

Informal poll: Which would you guys prefer - taking this challenge throw by throw or round by round?

Agh. I completely misread the bit about one throw at a time and submitted the whole round.. my bad. (Throw by throw is better.)

I'm definitely for throw by throw. I know it takes longer, but it's still only 9 days (well, more if tie breakers are required, which is unlikely)

Sounds good. We'll stick with individual throws. In theory, things should pick up in rounds 2 and 3, since I'm expecting fewer submissions. You have 24 hours to submit your second throw.

Throw 1: Maurog wins (S vs P)
Throw 2:
Throw 3:

Match 2: (2)mxvladi vs (7)kie

Throw 3:

Match 3: (3)larrymurk vs (6)Dex Stewart

Mxvladi has been eliminated. I won't require a third throw from him, but I will require one from kie just to even things out.

Wouldn't it be better to leave kie with seven remaining throw options as a reward for finishing the round in two throws?
I had considered it, but in the end decided that it was an unfair advantage. I think that essentially receiving a freebie discard is reward enough.
