Are monsters essentially stat removing blocks, or do they move around?

They can be either, by design.

I think the dialogue in that room gives a pretty good hint ;)

I started TotS last week (having fun and I'm up to the second red-door boss now) and the thing that bothers me most* are the collapsable walls that look like normal walls. At least the non-obvious ones. Maybe I'm missing a "wand of making the collapsable walls stand out" or something but it is somewhat annoying.

My question: Are there secret walls? If so are they visually distinct like in DROD: Classic and are they required to solve the puzzles.

...

* Actually, the thing that really bothers me the most is that whenever I talk to someone the text is white on beige and I need to squint to see it.

Secret walls are of the same type as in DROD - i.e., not necessarily easy to see if you're not looking for them, but not invisible.

In general, DROD RPG allows the same types of hidden information as DROD TCB does - you don't know what's in rooms you haven't visited, and you can hide some things (arrows) under other things (monsters), and you can have hidden scripting that affects the room state. Oh, and you can use custom tiles, though you'll need permission from Mike or Erik to use wall tiles to make secret walls. There are no new ways to hide information.

Well, Mike did say that they used a modified TCB engine, so I guess it would be just as difficult as it was with DROD.

Yeah, if it's a modified TCB engine, I doubt they would have changed the ini file art mod thingy.

There are actually a couple mean wubbas around. I won't give exact stats, but they work probably how you'd expect them to work in an RPG.
2. Will Danforth be there to annoy all those who bought TT just to get rid of him in the demo version (TCB hinthinthinthint)
For this game, I sent Danforth on hiatus. There's a simpler sell screen, which doesn't show up at all in the full version. Hopefully people don't mind losing Danforth too much...I'd hate to see the "Things I hate about DROD RPG" thread grow longer than the "Things I love about DROD RPG" thread.
3. How many hit points will Tendry start out with?
Uh...500. Stats fully customizeable in the editor via scripting and even for playtesting.
4. Is there [insert oohs and aahs] MAGIC??? :wizard
Nah, just various pseudo-science goodies :P
5. Will Second Sky (waiting in frantic seizures and anticipation) be related to it at all?
Yes, but we're not giving any details.

What Eytan said.

I thought that was one of TotS's most endearing features, so I preserved the color scheme. ...just kidding. O:-

Secret walls here might be more problematic than in DROD, since highscores probably will be dependent of you finding the secrets. May I humbly sugest a settings alternative to make secret walls more visible? The invisible walls wasn't a favourite in ToTS, and DROD secret walls can be quite hard to spot as well.

I really don't think this is going to be an issue, for two reasons:

A - The tiles are much larger, and everything is easier to spot.

B - Since high scores are likely to be based on stats rather than move counts, it should be possible to just go around searching for secrets as much as you want.

All specific to the official hold, hopefully six questions isn't too many:

Are there any new military factions along the lines of guards or stalwarts?

Can Tendry use weapons other than swords?

Are there builders, or any other means for basic room layout to change while you're going through a room?

How do bombs work?

Do all the TCB potion types appear?

What stats are used?

Sure, but if you're talking about how items work logically, then they are still held like a sword in DROD (i.e. occupying one tile of the room).
Are there builders, or any other means for basic room layout to change while you're going through a room?
No builders, but rooms can change via scripting.
How do bombs work?
Same area-of-effect. Normally, they kill everything, but they may also be scripted to perform various amounts of damage. Explosions may also be scripted.
Do all the TCB potion types appear?
No, you won't see the double potions, but the other ones make an appearance.
What stats are used?
Your basic HP, ATK, DEF, money, and XP. But don't be deceived -- this game can be complex, so we purposefully limited the number of basic stats in order to avoid decision paralysis.

What mrimer said in a PM

The graphics are basically resized versions of the 3.x graphics. It's too bad we don't have Erik working hard on redrawing everything (there are >3000 tiles in all) at the larger size. However, I've put a lot of time into sharpening them up, so they should look much better now than this alpha shot you're seeing. You'll be able to see for yourself when I post some current screenshots.
