HA review is done :thumbsup

As mentioned, there are some problems that need fixing for certain (some backtracking issues, and one room was accidentally made impossible by a late scripting change); and as mentioned, we have a final list of miscellaneous fixes we want to make. This shouldn't take long, and then it's just a matter of asking the HAs to look at the updated rooms (they won't have to play the entire hold again! :P ) and then we can finally get this out to everyone.

Thank you all for being so patient with us, and I'm really sorry for how long this has taken.

It's not an issue at all. I know if you want to make a masterpiece of masterpieces, it will take years to make and isn't just something you can throw a bunch of pixels around and call it a day (or for a real world analogy, throwing a bunch of bricks around and calling it a day to make the Sistine Chapel).

Release candidate #2 has been submitted to the HAs.

I am enormously grateful to the team but especially Dragon Fogel and IQubic, who have worked extremely hard to help this stage go as quickly as it has done. In the last week, we fixed over 100 rooms and recorded 25 new demos, some of them multiple times. Now we just need to see whether this is enough to satisfy the HAs :P

Nuntar, you have also done a large amount of the work in these pas few days too. We had a massive list of things needed fixing and amending. While each individual item might have been simple, you still had to manually implement each and every fix yourself. That can't have been easy.

DragonFogel and I were mainly just there to double check that each change had been implemented correctly, which also took some time, but probably not nearly as much time as you've spent.

I'm curious, why was it necessary to do all those fixes in the last week, when the initial HA process took months, and many (most?) problems have been known in advance? Some technical limitation? (Not to take anything away from your heroics, which are appreciated.)

Not sure about all the changes but a number of them are fixes of things picked up during the HA process.

The HAs specifically didn't want to deal with a lot of updates during the verification process, so we waited until they were done the initial check and then made all the changes at once. Now they'll look over the changed rooms and that will be that.

We also did look over a lot of the changes independently of that, using test holds and other means of checking rooms without an update that the HAs had to care about. This process naturally caught some other issues.

There might be a couple more rounds of this, but only for issues that the HAs think are important enough to bring to our attention. That should be a small number at this point, however.

Also, we had trouble getting testing for a lot of development. There was a big chunk of time where I was doing most of the testing, and naturally there were things I missed, especially in my own rooms. But a couple more people ran through the hold after we sent it to HA and a bunch of issues were caught in that process.

We weren't really planning on that - if we'd finished sooner, we might have had a dedicated testing period, but at this point we were aiming to just get it out after all this time. It's just that HA took long enough that we were able to get more testing in than we had expected.

We fully expect there will still be room breaks we didn't catch in all that. But we've hopefully caught all, or at least the vast majority of, the major ones.

Sure, but you'd expect it to be possible for two (or more) independent versions of a hold in development to exist — a static one for the HAs and an incrementally fixed one which would be presented to them later.

Agree. From outside it seems like it could have been handled more efficient.
However I want to emphasize it's only from external perspective - might be that you had a good reason to abstain from doing second version with fixes in parallel and await full feedback.

And of course I still appreciate tons of free work and praise you all for what you are doing, don't take it as a complaint but rather a feedback from end-user :)

We didn't do it that way because the hold submission process doesn't work that way. The HAs see the same hold that's on the beta board, and having an extra version floating around that's not wired into that system makes things more complicated.

The current version of The Descent of King Hesper has been accepted by both HAs and will be released in approximately 10 hours.

Merry Christmas to everyone who celebrates, and thank you to everyone. It's been a long and hard journey, and we definitely wouldn't have made it without your support and encouragement.

(Almost) time to relax and look forward to the Hints & Solutions topics appearing! :thumbsup

If you're on Windows, it's in the C:\ProgramData\Caravel folder.

Yeah, the issue is that the motherboard is no longer functional and I'm not sure how to access the drives with the equipment I have on hand.

It's alright, replaying it isn't the worst fate in the world, just slightly annoying given I spent over 20 hours. Hold is good it turns out.

I think the PP at Hall of Arrows: 1W (10,12) should close the door at (10,27), not open it as in current version. It should have been designed to limit the spawn count. See the picture i attatched.

I'm confused by what you mean. The way it works now limits the spawn count. After the third spawn, the door opens and the Queen moves to where it is unable to lay any more eggs.

Roach Queens can't lay eggs on open yellow doors. If it started open so the Queen immediately moved past it, then no eggs would be laid at all in the room.

kieranmillar is right. I got the wrong thought after I finished the room and start wandering what the purpose of this PP that I didn't used. Sorry for the confusionm, no bug at all.:yes
