I have an old Hold I once started, entitled The Long Way Round. Essentially, the point of the Hold is that the solution or objective is tantalisingly close at the start, yet in fact one needs to 'take the long way round' in order to get to it. For example, this could involve battling through a roomful of puzzles simply to get back to where you started and be able to finally kill a Tar Mother that you needed to keep alive for the rest of the room to be possible.
The aim of this contest is to make a short Hold with a 'Long Way Round' theme. I'll post an example Hold just as soon as I've finished it.
I will judge the entries at the end and award imaginary points according to how fun I felt each entry was. The Holds will be judged on fun, not difficulty! Bear in mind that I am a fairly mediocre DROD player when you make your entries; anything very difficult could lose points.
Entries must be posted by the 18/5/08.
So, in short, the rules:
1. You must build a short Hold with a 'Long Way Round' theme.
2. All Holds must be handed in by the 18th or they will not be judged.
3. I will then judge entries according to fun factor.
