Alright, I give up. I've gotten the mud to grow up to the final turn without generating more than the initial two mud babies, but now I have a problem:

A. I can get it around the corner easily if I leave the top and bottom out of sync with each other, but then there's no place to slow down the leading side to make them hit the pressure plates at the same time.

B. I can resync the two halves, but then I need one mud baby at each corner at the same time to get the mud around the bend, and I can't figure out how to do that without having one hit the pressure plates.

What am I missing?

I got past this room by experimenting to see what patterns will and won't generate mud babies.

I actually got to spawn only two babies and let the mud grow, but I'm still stuck on the last corner problem, as Dischorran said in his point B

I need some help in the last part of the room

Ok, after 48 hours of trying to beat this room, I am getting sick of it. I have resynced the mud before the last corner after trying everything to resync it after the last corner without success. However, I cannot make it past the last turn without creating babies or hitting the pressure plates. Please help me before I go mad!

I still dont get it.
i can grow the mud around the last turn, but
delaying one side by one spwan afterwards is not possible for
me
