I have been wandering about this for a long time and was arguing with myself wether or not i should post this. But here i am posting it.
My question is how many people have you introduced to DROD?
I have introduced 3 people to DROD. And if i ever get a steady flow of mod points i might give 2 mod points to the person who introduced the most people to DROD.

I don't think Erik needs more mod points ;-)

I've introduced a number of people, but only one person has really tried to conquer the game, and even they gave up around level 18 or so of KDD. 3 days into JtRH and I'm at floor 20. None of my friends have that dedication.

I've tried introducing two people, both of which seem to be into thinking games / thinking in general (one of them was a town champion in chess for his age, the other is quite good in maths and logic problems), but the problem is, the chess champion is an MMO freak (has played Guild Wars for 4800 hours in 23 months, not including other MMOs) and the other played too much Counter Strike and Call Of Duty to be able to use his brain in a game anymore.

Such a waste :( .

I've introduced my ex (boyfriend at the time) to DROD. He's quite fond of it, and has played through several user created holds as well as KDD.

I think it's 3 for now. My sister knows about DROD, yet gave up long ago for an unknown reason. I also introduced two friends to the game. The first one, I don't know whether he gave up yet. As of the other one, he played once when he came over. I don't know if he downloaded DROD, I just know he played once.

I tried very hard to get some people addicted to Drod but I didn't had a lot of sucess. Two friends played the demo holds (JtrH), one stated that the is horrible and my ex-girlfriend made it to level 8 of JtrH. No addiction.

I got the DROD hook pretty much into someone else's skin, I've managed to trick two players into going through a fair bit of KDD, but not the final leap to other holds, and I'm still trying to cast my sister into the fiery pits of DROD (we're almost there, but not quite).

So, that's four people who have at least played some DROD, and I've talked a few others into downloading DROD, but they gave up pretty quickly, as far as I know. Out of ten people, that's one critical success, two minor victories, one battle still ongoing, and six defeats. I guess that's not too bad.

I got a friend to download AE once, but he said the floating Beethro heads freaked him out. :| No, really, he did.

One friend, who got to the bottom of KDD along side me. But he got himself married by the time JtRH came out years later, and refused to get it because he said he'd knew he'd become hopelessly addicted, and eventually his wife would leave him and he probably wouldn't even notice. (Which is ridiculous. My wife also used to complain how I spend more time with Beethro than with her, but she's stopped that months ago. Hmm, she actually hasn't said much of anything these last few months. Um, guys, I'll be right back. I need to check something.)

I introduced my ex VodkaAndCoke who reached 16th when we split up. I'm trying to get her a PC set up so she can carry on playing as her mum doesn't let her use the (work) laptop for games.

My current girlfriend Random is currently 175th and moving up the ranks quickly (the current high score bug seems to have profited her though, so I believe she's actually in the 180s). She's only been playing 6 weeks but already has a 7 pt/room average so expect her to be in the top 20 soon :)

My boss also played for a week or so, but too busy to really get into it proper. He was interested to see if DROD was Turing complete.

OK, this is very scary. I need to play more to make sure Random doesn't surpass me.
My wife enjoys watching me play (to an extent, at least), and she's thrilled that I have a forum full of similar-minded folk with whom to correspond. Makes up for her Livejournal blogging.
I've tried starting my mother (also a puzzle fan) and some co-workers on the JtRH demo, but it hasn't exactly caught on, without me there to prod them to continue. Even by level 3, there are some tough spots.

I've introduced three of my best freinds to DROD,
We all sat down, i told them the story of King Dugans Dungoen, Journey to rooted hold, and The City Beneath.
I accidently told them the end of king dugan's dungoen.
So they thought and thought.
One of my freinds said DROD was like the legend of Zelda.
Mweh.

If you either look only at the surface, they look alike. If you look really deep, they're surprisingly similar, but then, so are tons of other games you wouldn't really think are related.

So I never managed to make someone play DROD :weep... Maybe someday. :)

I introduced my fellow students in the math department of my university to DROD by installing AE on the computer in the students office.

Now whenever I enter the room, some of them are sitting around it, debating a room. And there are definitely some three or four young men who can sit there for hours...

Introducing DROD to maths uni students? That's just evil. I approve :) They're the ones who're most likely to get addicted to it.

Ooooh, stealth introduction. Very nice, indeed. Let them think it's their brilliant idea to get stuck on this game. :D

I have introduced one of my friends to DROD in 2004.

He at first seemed indifferent, but was fascinated looking at me playing KDD level 15 then. I give him the installation file, and play level 1 for him. He is more interested, and asked me again at level 3 (the room with 7 doors which you have to open)

After three weeks, he came back and asked me about some tough KDD level 18 room that were bothering him.

I was amazed. He said that he would play it non stop for whole three weeks, whenever he had time. He even played it whole nights.

After that I lost contact with him and don't know whether he is still playing DROD by now.

Apart from VaC, I've introduced about 10 people to DROD and none play any more. Out of all the potential DROD records though, I think we have the accolade of being the first couple to both be in the top 20 at the same time (5th and 16th at our peak I believe).

Guess people either get hooked on DROD or just give up. I personally have never encountered a more fun and rewarding game in my life - and quit my job just to play it for 8 months (not recommended if you have rent to pay) :)

Most of my friends heard me talking about DROD. No way I don't quote DROD somehow. Unluckily, only two or three of them played and still enjoy the game.
