OK, OK, here's another; it's many years old and was made when I was in love with the musical style of early DRODs (still am :wub).

Think it as an 'attack theme' for that JtRH-era Volcano-style.

If you try to kill a roach in your own home with the most "Really Big Sword"-like object you can find.

When you walk around on tiled floors at the grocery store, supermarket, your house, ANYWHERE, in only the 8 directions, and only turn when you REALLY have to.

Hear the sound effects from the game somewhere else, and immediately jolt in sheer confusion.

Note: This happened to me... with my online school lesson... for english.

When you have dreams with abstract holds of your own imagination.

I had a dream that in order to beat the rooms you had to move between them numerous times (like for example, in level 24 of the original KDD game, the one with tar mothers, where in order to beat them you need to leave the room, go below and come back)

It was 4 rooms in a square. Very geometric building. Walls that force you to leave the room, and go back and forth.

In my dream, I was beating that hold for 8 hours straight, I was leaving the hold, coming back, and I was constantly doing undo and restart, but I've finally beaten it. It had roaches and queen roaches and switch-plates. When I woke up, I was full of sweat, but also satisfaction. Truth be told, I've probably broken some rules when I was beating that hold.... But nobody will ever know.

EDIT: It also had trapdoors

Oof, this thread is pretty damn old. (Seriously, the last post we made here was back when we played PFQ??? Time is an abyss.) But we have a funny addition to it.

We recently played a game called "Anthology of the Killer", and it's very, very interesting. Highly recommend. But also, one of the songs in that game reminds us of DROD's music (ESPECIALLY the music from AE/JtRH), and every time it played in-game, we had to take a moment to pause. Less so in instrumentation, and more in the general progression of it. We can viscerally see backswiping hordes of roaches from queens to this song, and we feel like we're going insane (well, more than usual for our standards) because like. WHO ELSE IS GOING TO THINK OF THAT.

Here's the song, if you're curious. I'm kinda wondering if it's just a me thing or not, but our sample size is admittedly very, very small (lord knows the overlap of DROD fans and Anthology of the Killer fans is just us at the moment):

...Expect the line of sight of an eye to be in a 180 degree straight line, and not have the more spread out field of vision a real eye would.

...Expect one bat to run away from you, but groups of bats to become more aggresive the more bats are nearby.

...Expect spiders to seamlessly blend in with the floor chameleon style, rather than having only one fur pattern like an actual spider would.

...Expect roaches to be giant, man eating monsters rather than small bugs you can squish by stepping on.

...Expect you can walk on top of a door if it is at the very entrance to a room, but otherwise it's a normal door you can't walk on.

...Expect hot objects to burn you only if you stand still on them, as opposed to whenever you touch them moving or not like how it works in the real world.

...Expect bridges to fall if they are connected to something diagonally, but not orthogonally.

...Expect tiles with diamonds on them to prevent diagonal movement in or out of them for anything that moves.

...Expect robots to turn into piles of rubble on destruction, and for these piles to be programmed to revive themselves every 30 seconds.

...See the chain chomps in Mario and think of Gentryii, even though chain chomps came first.

...Expect fluff balls to form little sheets of ice if they collide over a puddle of water.

...Expect fluff (like peanut butter and fluff) to be uncuttable with a sword or knife, but you can pierce right through it with a stick/baton/club etc

...Expect sticks to be unable to hurt anything, only push it.

...Expect if you push someone against a wall, they are stunned for a shorter time than if they are pushed on a floor area (the real world has opposite logic)

...Expect crystals to make all monsters in a room to summon all insects and other pests back if you don't turn all of them off

...Expect pickaxes to be able to hack through plants fine, but swords and similar sharp blades won't

...Expect barrels of dynomite to explode on hot surfaces, but not bombs

...Expect that drinking a potion will stop time travel in other movies/games

...Expect a dagger to be too light to trigger trapdoors, but still crack thin ice when walking with it

...Expect a rat to move only in a straight line or turn 90 degrees, but anything more complex is something they're not smart enough to do

...Expect statues to suddenly move toward you when you strike a fork.

...Expect turrets to shoot darts, rather than realistic bullets in other video games or in the real world (like in the military).

...Expect anything made out of flesh or meat to be bad luck when you stab it, and it will make something you really need impossible to access (The Living Walls)

...think arrows fired from bows will travel instantly, rather than having realistic physics movement.

...think a crucifix/cross is sharp enough to use as a sword, and you can't move diagonally or any surface without mud while using it.

...think a crate can't be pushed over anything but mud

...think being allergic to something means you will immediately explode into particles (referencing Jax and fluffies), rather than just having only a mild cold/sneeze etc

...think an angry fluffy creature will turn into a pink stingray like creature that dodges any weapon attacks and tries to sneak up behind you, like even your pet dog or cat
