Perhaps this topic (or one like it) should be in the General board so that those who miss the new board on the boards list will still have an indication of where all the contest posts went.

(By the way, I'm pleased with the new Contests board. It makes the General board much more pleasant during the months I don't participate in the contests.)

Oh yeah, and the contest board is a, erm, idea that was suggested multiple times before with the exact same reasons but was denied every time, so I see no reason why it was brought into existance now. Personally, I think Banjooie summed up my feelings to a tea.

I don't think it's that big a deal, to be honest. For contests with multiple threads, it's easier to keep track of them when there aren't other threads in-between. Since this forum won't get much traffic, it should be better organized.

Also, what's one more forum? As of right now, I have...55 forums in my forum list (and I'm very glad for the ability to collapse forum sections!). Now, almost everyone else is going to have maybe a 1/3 of that, but still...it's not a big deal. Back when we only had 10 forums, an extra contests one would be odd. Nowadays it's just better organization.

I never said I was against it - I had suggested one before. All I was stating was that since we've lived without one until now, what makes us decide that we needed one all of the sudden? Heck, if we can live through July's contest and all the threads it needed, I'm pretty sure we can live through any of them.

Increased contest traffic? The last two contests had 56 and 42 contestants. Or maybe it took B0rsuk's contankerous style of persuasion to make me come to my senses. I often use a fuzzy style of decision-making which produces unpredictable results.

I remember when it was perfectly reasonable for me to read every post on this entire site while carrying a full course load in school. Growing to the point of needing more forums is a good problem to have, it means you're popular.

I like the idea of having a contests forum anyway. There are certainly enough past contests to keep the forum well populated.

Shows what the OED knows. "Dried" my bum. Only in boxes in Tesco.

Gnocchi are pasta with added potato (or occasionally semolina), and I hate 'em - they stick to the roof of yer mouth. Shame the Italians love 'em and I live in Italy.

Gnocchi belong in the pasta section.

It was, in part, a joke - there's this delightful sketch show (because it was actually funny) I watched a week ago where one of the running characters is waging a one-man campaign to get gnocchi moved to the vegetable section because it's made of potato.

But you tell me that gnocchi is pasta with added potato? Hmmm....
