Flawlessly consistent (NOT!)
Bad Evil Restaurant & That Really Annoying Hold Satirical holds highlighting common flaws of badly made holds.
Hittite jokes To avoid offense, Erik suggested telling jokes with Hittites instead of current ethnic groups. Because some jokes don't work with Hittites, this is somewhat a joke in itself - a meta-joke, one might say.

Post if you can think of more! :) Please explain the inside jokes as best you can, preferably with link(s).

I tried to think of as many as I could, and most of the ones I thought of were one I was involved in. But the spoiler cutoff joke and flawlessly consistant do need to be added at some point.

Where did that one originate from, can you remember? I tried searching for it, but I can't find where it came from.

Oh dear. Not again!

Edit: Oh, and perhaps the one about Danforth Strout should also be added too.

You can now find a compilation of all the Forum in-jokes that I can remember, along with some history and usage, on the site in the Fun Stuff section, (and no, this isn't a joke :)).

If you've got any comments (e.g. I missed one, one of the listed ones isn't really a joke, I killed the jokes by explanation, etc.), please let me know.

The Revenge of Watch the Bar Strikes Back 2: Electric Boogaloo is not mentioned in "The Bar". Link goes to the first of several more bar jokes.
Kill the Kitten! might be mentioned under "Kitten!". We do seem to have a love/hate relationship with our animals...
"Hired Thugs" might mention the DAA guy on the 403 Forbidden page.
I don't see Bad Evil Restaurant & That Really Annoying Hold or Hittite jokes. I still see those holds referenced, although I'm unsure about the Hittite jokes.

I'm glad this was done; I learned some things.

I've edited the wording of the post for clarity. I'm only including the original JtRH bar for now. The new TCB bar discussions are a bit confusing to read, and a lot of it is only accessible to maybe about 150 or so people.

Kill the Kitten! might be mentioned under "Kitten!". We do seem to have a love/hate relationship with our animals...
Added.
I don't see Bad Evil Restaurant & That Really Annoying Hold...
I am not quite sure I want to publicise what were very silly parodies of poor hold building because they can be interpreted wrongly, and I don't want to encourage people to make these kinds of holds, or think that doing so is in some way amusing (in the long run, it isn't). I realise they are referenced, but I don't want to draw attention to them unless everyone else thinks that I'm violating freedom of speech.

...or Hittite jokes.
Hittite jokes haven't been referenced or mentioned much in the Forum's history, so I don't quite regard them as an in-joke. Also, I am uncomfortable about making jokes about any particular group, race or society of people, no matter how long ago the last surviving member lived.

The last paragraph still mentions TCB. I think this is a typo.

I take your slightly ambiguous post to mean, "making Hittite jokes is acceptable/can be done/is not immoral because none of them exist anymore", correct?

Well, as I said, I'm not comfortable with doing it, but I will concede and add it in if there is demand for it.

Well, there'll surely be no demand from me - I've been here for quite some time now, but I've still haven't run into one of those; so either these jokes are highly obscure or they're confined to the ~7 forums that I don't frequent...

No, my overly ambiguous post meant "Hittite jokes are meant to reflect discomfort with making jokes about any particular group, by applying them to a group no-one has preconceived notions about and thus allowing a metric of how funny those jokes are independently of any stereotypical prejudice.".

Note that this isn't meant to be taken as a request to add them to the page (I agree that this hasn't been a particularly influential joke), but just to point out that your reaction is the one the Hittite jokes are meant to elicit.

Meh.... I don't think that's quite big enough or long-running enough to be archived as a forum in-joke. Heck, the mere mention of if probably confuses and angers Banjooie. And that's not in there either. ;)

why is this being brought up again :(

Also because my confusion and anger thing is technically a reference to a show I don't watch, it probably shouldn't go in there.

The whole Banjooie Jr. thing just isn't as hilarious as ketchup /or/ puppies.

Hmmm... I thought the PETAmeal was just one animal, and the petaPETAmeal was the really big one.

EDIT: Never mind. But that raises the question, does ketchup reduce the number of animals needed to consume a PETAmeal?

Hmm... That's a good question.

Ketchup definitely makes kittens more delicious to eat, but whether you can regard ketchup as being part of the tasty animals you are eating is unclear.

Of course, catchup does definitely count towards the PETAmeal, whereas puppychup does too, but unfortunately, it doesn't go well with either kittens or puppies.

Edit: 1600 points! And, it seems 1600 is a square number, 40^2, in fact, and 40=2^3*5, which contains the first three consecutive prime numbers!

Cool!

No, I was saying that the confused and angry thing was bigger than the Banjooie Jr. thing. I don't think either is big enough to be on the in-joke page.

But, the PETAmeal is measured in tasty animal equivalents. So I guess the question is, is 1 ketchup and puppy greater than 1 puppy? I'd say it is, by a significant amount. So I think that adding ketchup to your puppies reduces the amount for a PETAmeal, because 1 puppy with ketchup is clearly greater than 1 femtoPETAmeal.

Bad Evil Restaurant is the finest hold ever to grace the Holds Board.

It has literally set a bottom which no hold can sink below, thus ensuring a standard of quality in holds forever more.

No, its not the joke, its the fact that it encourages bad hold making.

I think that is covered under The Revenge of the Watch the Bar Strikes Back2: Electric Boogaloo
