I found this game from a female friend of mine in St. Louis--we went to a coffeeshop, she introduced me to it, and I fell in love with it.
Premises:
1. One person draws a kitten.
2. One person tries to kill it.
3. The first person attempts to save it.
4. It is a picture game, and depth is not an issue. (A tank could be the same size as a {arguably large} ant.)
5. All of the pictures stay until the game is over.
Premises 2 and 3 don't hold much water here though...it would be rather silly to just have 2 people playing! So, instead...
Internet rules!
1. I have drawn a kitten. It shall be the base kitten, which would be an interesting phrase used out of context. If somebody draws a better kitten, or one that doesn't resemble their own (I don't kill pets...that's someone else's job.) then feel free to create another base kitten.
2. Somebody attempts to kill the kitten. To do this, copy the image to your own files, add something new AND fatal to it, and post an explanation of how your drawn object will kill the kitten.
3. Same as number 2, with Protection instead of Death.
3.5. All of the pictures stay until the outcome of the game is decided.
3.75. Try to keep your images relatively small-the best games come from an image crowded with many different ideas, causes and effects, as opposed to one large idea that covers the entire image.
4. If there is a double Death, or a double Protection (posted at the same time), then the kitten is Killed or Saved, respectively. The second person to post declares it, and their next post states either "
I have Killed the kitten!"
or "
I have Saved the kitten!"
I'm kind of going on the honor system here, as it's hard to determine if something was actually a double Death or double Protection by time alone. (Someone could have been waiting to pounce.) If there is a large enough time gap between posts (1/2 hour or more), then other posters can ignore the second post, and base their next drawing off of the first poster.
4.5. If somebody has a really good idea for how to kill the kitten, or how to protect it, somebody else can declare the kitten Killed or Saved, and a third person can second it (following?). The artist of the good idea can not claim it nor second it. This will allow for more Kills/Saves. Limit to rule 4.5: There must be at least 6 previous pictures, not including the base kitten.
5. If the "
board"
gets too crowded, anybody can declare a "
Cat Game"
, but the motion MUST be seconded by the next poster.
6. This is not a venue for artistic criticism-positive or negative. Critique of the idea is okay, but not the art itself.
7. I will keep a running tally of Kills, Saves, and Cats in this post.
8. Attach your picture, and then edit your post to link to it. Not only will this cause the picture to show up, but you'll also see if you've double posted, and can declare a Kill or a Save. Thanks Banjooie for the tip on this.
9. Have fun, and be creative!
Kills: 2
Saves: 1
Cats: 3
Metas: 1 (see cat 5)
