Solved it. After bumbling around with trial and error, I must say that it felt quite rewarding.

I have to go in a few minutes, but I'll add some helpful images/hints later tonight.

I've wasted a sword for an attempt that ends me up just 1 square east of the exit.

Obviously, the second attempt worked.

Oddly, I can see neither eyes nor tooltips in any of the uncovered area. Something must still be wrong, I suppose?

I'm running Mozilla Firefox 5.0 on Windows 7 x64.

How did you manage to get three swords anyway? I only was ever able go have one at a time, though I randomly clicked the bar over the course of several days before I solved it. Then I'd use it and immediately after be able to pick up another one.

I think the bar gives out a sword every hour or so..
So if you don't spend them then you can accumulate up to three.

I'd posted earlier that I thought the bar dropped one sword per hour, but as I said, I've never been able to hold more than one at a time. Even when I held onto a sword and clicked throughout the day, by the end of the day I still had my original one and that was it. If I then used it, I could immediately after pick up another from the bar. I've tried this multiple times for the last two bar puzzles and the results were the same. I don't think it's just coincidence because with the last bar puzzle, I discovered it long after most people had and no one was even making attempts anymore. I'd tried to stock up on swords to make a valiant effort when I had time, but that didn't work. Same with this time.

I know I won't get another sword immediately afterward. I even said earlier in this thread that I'd determined that drops happened regularly for me, about once an hour. I'm saying that over the course of more than a day of clicking at various intervals, I still have never held more than one sword at a time. I don't know how I can be more clear here but apparently I'm still being misunderstood.

Thank you, that's what I needed. I was actually just thinking of posting something to the affect of asking how the browser stores how many swords you have. I even did a quick search through cookies to see if I could locate the variable and cleared cache.

A very strange coincidence to have happened with both the last bar game and this one but I'll just have to accept it as that. Or that my copy of Firefox is unique
