I do not believe anyone has been to the 3 secret levels in this hold. Has any tester been able to access the 5th secret room on Level 8?

If the 5th secret room is Sence North, Twice East, then yes, I have been there. You can only get to it by completing The Ice Cave level.

There is a backtracking problem in The Sand Palace.

After completing 2S1E, if the player chooses to continue onwards through 3S1E all the way to 1S3E, they will be stuck. The blue door in 2S3E will not be open (because 2S and 2S2E not yet conquered), and it will not be possible to backtrack through the force arrows in 4S1E.

In case you didn't know, backtracking problems are generally frowned upon, because players don't like being required to restore and replay rooms they've already played.

In level 5 - The Palace: Once North, Quince East

you now have two separate areas of the room with force arrows and green doors. If Beethro goes into the first one, he can not go into the second one. If he goes into the second one, he can not go into the first one.

This is in the version of the hold uploaded on Dec. 29th.

Let's get this thread back on track! Rust7 has some work to do here.

Regarding room completability: I've got victory demos for 276 of the 277 rooms in this hold. Missing is Level 5: 1N5E, which is now impossible as bdwing pointed out. (I guess I missed that back when other changes were made to Level 5.)
* Rust7 needs to fix Level 5: 1N5E (This could be done by removing the green door at (35-36,18))

Regarding level completability: Even though it might be fun for architects to create backtracking problems to frustrate solvers, holds with backtracking problems are not allowed on the Holds board.
* Rust7 needs to fix the backtracking problem in Sand Palace (This could be done by making 2S and 2S2E unrequired)
* After Rust7 fixes Level 5, could a beta tester please replay the level to check that all its rooms are accessible.

Regarding the text: The puzzles in this hold just fill up the space, and take up my time. Nobody will think this hold is good because of the puzzles (except maybe Level 11). The story is its best chance to shine. I urge Rust7 to have the text proofread so that the story does shine. :)

I have finally completed level 6. Now I find that it is impossible to leave this level. The exit to level 7 is in room Quarce North. The force arrows in room Quince North, Once East prevent Beethro from going back to Quarce North.

Problems that are now fixed:
* Level 5 1N5E is now solvable.
* Sand Palace is now backtrackable.

Problems that are not fixed:
* Backtracking Level 6. Thanks to bdwing for pointing this out. The blue doors in 5N1E and 5N improve the situation, but do not solve the problem. If the player had not yet solved 1N1W, 1W, 1S1W, 1S, 1S1E, 1E, 1N1E, 1N or Entrance (all required rooms) then the blue doors would not open and the player would still be stuck.

Questions:
* Are Levels 5 and 7 backtrackable? While I have demos for all the rooms on these levels, they were not solved sequentially. I restored and resolved only the rooms that changed. These levels still need to be tested for any possible backtracking problems that arose when the rooms were changed.

Level 5 is good. I was able to complete all the rooms (well, all I've seen) and leave the level.

Level 7 has a new problem. My character went from 91% explored to 41% explored. I can not get the blue gates to drop. Maybe one of the new rooms is marked required and can't be reached?


Edit: May we have an Anyone Edit version? Please? Pretty please?

Possible problems:

In Ice Cave:2E a script triggers the yellow orb when Beethro first enters the room. If Beethro leaves the room by the path he came in and then returns to the room, the orb does not trigger and the player must restart the level.

In level 6:7N1W the last rock golem blocks the path when killed. The player must leave the room and reenter to be able to get to the next room.

Is level 11:1S possible? I am not the best player and I can not get through this room. I also had trouble in level 2:3N3E but CuriousShyRabbit's demo proves that one is possible.

I have mastered the hold (by beating earlier versions of the above two rooms). Nothing else seemed to be problematic to me.
