I'd just like to take a quick sketch of multiplayer games DROD players are interested in at the moment, mainly because I thought it would be nice to have a social event with DROD quality players in the near future (like, June).

Personally, Team Fortress II, Counterstrike: Source and World in Conflict are my preferences.

Update: I've now setup a DROD steam group,
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/DROD. A TF2 match in in the works, any help would be appreciated.

Team Fortress 2 is currently my multiplayer game. I've found a good group of servers run by some people who care about the teamwork part of it. Plus, it has a really good community and a good forum system (Which is currently where I'm hanging out a lot). If you want to check it out, head to TheVille.Org.

But honestly, I'm really enjoying the Steam system of releasing and finding players. It'd be interesting to see if more independant games come along in the future, especially seeing as an independent game worth ten bucks can instantly become a top eight seller in it's massive library.

TF2, far more than's good for me I think. Currently chasing Medic achievements (along with everyone else and his dog; makes playing as Pyro rather attractive too )

NiroZ - easiest way to find out would probably be to set up a Steam community group for DRoD players I'd say

I've not actually played TF2 yet (CS yes, but I didn't really get into it), but it's been on my list of things to try for a while. Unfortunately Steam is currently broken for some people (including me: lots of reports about connection problems after the previous update), but hopefully things will be back to normal soon.

Starcraft and Trackmania Nations are pretty much the only games that I ever seriously played in multiplayer.

Odd, it seems that A) it is throwing a wobbly when I try to invite members B)You can, unlike what it said when I was creating the group, switch from public to invite and vice versa.

Right, now to the TF2 match. Does anyone have any experience in setting up matches/finding a server? I mean, I can try, but I'm next to clueless about these things.

Also, telling me what time of the day/week would be good for you in June would be helpful

It would probably be easier if you post it using time tags, like this one which you can copypaste into your post. [localtime] 10(month)/16(day)/2008 12:00 PM[/localtime] Note that you will have to fiddle with the time because unless you're in the US, it doesn't make much sense. If you can't work the localtime tags, just post a good time for you and your GMT (If you're not sure, check your profile.)

For me it is Local Time:06-14-2008 at 11:00 AM.

Sure, the group isn't just for TF2, its for DRODers on steam. It just seems that TF2 is the flavour of the month.

Since I'm on it so consistently (Steam tells me approx. 26 hours a week), I'll give these general guidelines:

Monday to Friday: Anytime between 4:00 and 11:00 CST
Weekends: Anytime.

I've added a couple of people in the group to my friends list. If I see you online when I'm about to play, I'll invite you.

And on that topic, we do need to get a group game started. I know NiroZ tried to set one up in the group, but no server or anything was set up. Anyone have a good idea for a date? How about the second Sunday in July for a starter?
