There's not a lot to say of this, except it is the first non-pointless hold I released.

Credit to NiroZ and tokyokid for helping me to release a hold on the Holds board

SuperV, has been a real pal and did the most testing, and gave me the permission to use one of his rooms with permission.

And thanks to the testers!

So, happy game!

Thanks, I loved beta-testing this hold. The Scripting Museum is a good idea. Good work Jeff!

Yes, definately Jeff Ray's best hold yet. There are some pretty good rooms, and a few great rooms. I'm glad Jeff decided to focus on one project at a time, to create this. I can't wait to see how much Jeff Ray will evolve until his next hold!

I gave this hold a 7 (changed thanks to the Wraithwing room), and 4 brains of difficulty. Good job, Jeff! :)

From what I see so far, this won't be my key to doing a SS for sure... :no

Wait a minute, Jeff. I don't think you're quite ready for a Sms. Yet. Just keep improving, and climb your way to the top! Maybe one day you'll have a hold that will score above eight!

And besides, only six people have voted! That average could increase overtime, and eventually you'd have a good hold (and on of them was a dummy vote, and others could change their vote higher). So keep going, and maybe we'll see something really good from you in the future. :)

I've only got one hold far in progress, and even then, as you know, I'm the impatient type, so this waiting will be painful... :(

Nuntar: Oh well... too bad you can't vote... :(

At least, I hope you'll come back after conquering some more holds and become better!

Or maybe use H&S when the hold level map bug will be fixed...

It's intentional...

Yeah, this room was particularly unfair... but I don't think we can update...

Oh well, I should maybe not do any room like that for the next hold coming.

Thanks for telling me this. I should maybe avoid such rooms in my future holds.

Actually, I did no such hanging about; I just plunged in, so to speak, and everything worked out fine.

I thought this was a pretty decent hold. Puzzles were mostly well-constructed and, while not very difficult, at least required some thought.

The only room I didn't much like was 1N2E because of the wacky wraithwing movement, but even that wasn't bad.

Overall, I give the hold a 7 and 4 brains.

Josh

OK, some commentary:

In general, I thought this was a fairly well-done hold. There wasn't anything trivial, and (at least from an optimizer's point of view) a lot of them were genuinely interesting (notably 1E, which I had a lot of fun plahying and re-playing to see if I could kill the golems in even fewer moves).

Personally, I thought 1S2E and 2S1E were interesting variations on a theme (and 2S a mildly interesting variation on those variations). Some rooms--1S, 1N--were perhaps a little tedious, but not in a "oh god make this hold go away" sense.

I found the Scripting Museum somewhat less interesting; there were some interesting concepts, perhaps, but in general they didn't seem to translate well into interesting puzzles (e.g. the "walk in and walk out" nature of 1N and 1S)--except for the secret room, which I genuinely thought was impossible until I said, "Hmm, I wonder whether..." So kudos for that one.

All in all, I gave it a 7, which seems to be pretty close to typical. I vaguely recall some of your earlier false starts, and I have to say that if I were rating the hold on "evolution as an architect", it'd be a 10.

We were rolling some random room images in CaravelNet chat and a room for this hold showed up, I thought it seemed somewhat interesting so gave it a play. It wasn't very long.

I thought it was fun. Definitely very classic old-skool JtRH era stuff, mostly fight rooms that don't try to put anything too complex or fiddly in your way. It's basic, but it's enjoyable basic, which is a nice breath of fresh air against the modern style of architecture.

4 brains, 7 fun.
