There are some behaviour changes that affect this room between playing in AE and JtRH (most notably brains directing roaches over force arrows if you've stepped on them in AE), but I'm almost certain that they're not big enough to affect solvability.

Someone prove me wrong - I don't have time to check it *right now*

I solved this entire hold in AE, before Caravelnet. but I haven't been able to solve it lately (mostly because my attempts to remember solutions interfere with my ability to find solutions). So therefore if there were a compatibility issue (though I doubt it, since there are caravel-posted high scores) it would be the other way about, with a recent patch having rendered a room undoable. However, a quick click of the spider button and a less quick waiting for it to catch up with Channel One Suite re-checks should settle that issue rather well.

There have been several hold updates, so it's possible that the hold was originally solvable in AE, then revised to become impossible in AE and possible in JtRH.

Again, highly unlikely, but possible. I'll try to solve enough of this hold later today to see if I can reach the room in question, but who knows if I'll succeed.

Wasn't there a bug (dunno if it was in JtRH or AE) that once you had stepped on an arrow brained creatures started considering waltzing right over the arrow, while they really should route around them?

If his version has this bug, that might explain why roaches come at him from the south right across the arrows, as can be seen in his screenshot. In that case - not stepping on the arrows, but running around a bit to get to the queens, would - ummm - "fix" it.

If "vertical" gate (from arrows to the N orb at NW) should be toggled, I could solve it easier. :thumbsup

the top 8 demos for the room all just re-verified under the (presumably 2.0.14) spider. so it's still doable.

Sure, it would make things easier, but it's still doable if you clean out the part with the snake first. After that, open the vertical door and charge in.

Anyhow - as long as you don't cross those arrows you should be safe further on in this room...

Room solved! :thumbsup
My error was the cleaning sequence (see topic in Hints for details).

Certainly an help message should be good in this room, when a sequence is needed and there are not orbs to force me moving through any gate... :closedeyes

Thanks for replies, I appreciated them!

But this hold is still not completed by me, so stay tuned, I might find other "own" bugs! :P

Another excellent hold from Doom.

Some of the puzzles were easy, some were fiendish. All were fun.

There's still a trivial solution for 1N1W, but other than that I have nothing bad to say.

A 9 with 7.5 brains of difficulty.

I abandoned this hold...
Too hard to me. :thumbsdown

I like rooms solvable using intelligence, not only forum's help... :weep

You just need more intelligence. I started this hold when I just started DROD, and only now, after I've beaten Beethro's Teacher even, am I starting to finish rooms.

I think I need a lie down after that. It's taken a long time, but I finally made it through after an hour or so battling endless hoards of roaches in 1S1W.

Great hold if you are looking for a challenge.

Wow, that was a little tough but I managed to get through it albeit with some help from H&S. I thoroughly enjoyed a few rooms, in particular 2N and 2S2E. Great hold!

Just completed this one, after working through a couple more holds by the same author. A rather nice medium-difficulty little taster. Good to give to people who've just finished KDD and want some more Architect's Edition action.

Well done :)

I've completed this hold in AE. Anyone could tell me please why it does not appear as conquered in the list of the holds? At the end of the hold it restarted from the first room without showing the usual message of victory :(

Ok I deleted the hold and played it again, now it is conquered. :)
I don't know if I could have saved my progress somehow.
