Has Caravel investigated using Amazon Payments? This isn't a recommendation; I just know that the Humble Bundle uses them and I've never had a problem with them.
No, we haven't. We'll continue working to improve our processes, and I'll look into this.

I don't see a number to call, only an email address I can contact. What's the number?

Try this number: 1-800-414-4268.

I don't remember for sure where I got the number that I called. If for some reason you can't get through with the above, try emailing orders@bmtmicro.com. The reply should contain a contact number.

So today I had crow meat, it was dry and stringy and I don't recommend it for gourmet purposes.

Turns out I typo'd the zip code. :blush Although they could've said so in the first place.

bumpetty bump bump bump.

So today I heard that we can preorder CDs of Gunthro... now. I immediately clicked on the caravel logo in the upper right of the forum webpage; then I clicked on games and went to the Plimus page (! but I wasn't aware of that fact yet.) Since I had been wanting to get the music download, I proceeded to order that item, thinking that I could get both the music download and the CD preorder at the same time. The order finished for the music download without letting me add any additional items. I went back to the games link and clicked on "Buy Now" for the Gunthro game.

The CD wasn't there.

Unfazed, I went to the newest Illumination and clicked on the limk therein. Aha, I find myself on a BMT Micro page. The music download must have gone through Plimus. I complete my order of the CD through BMT Micro. Then I check my email.

What's this? My bank is reporting suspicious activity on my credit card account. Well I've had problems with Plimus in the past. As instructed I call my bank. Imagine my surprise to learn that the Plimus order was fine. It was the BMT Micro order that Bank of America took exception to.

What gives. Per the bank I MAY have to resubmit the order through BMT again for it to go through.

Are there any other options than Plimus and BMT Micro?

I ordered through the allumination for the upgrade,
And everything went just fine.
(I live in Belgium (Europe) and paid with Visa)
I never had problems with Plimus too.

Sorry for the trouble with BMT. Currently, we unfortunately don't have any other options.

Trying to make my purchase with USB Micro and my debit card I was expected to sign up for some sort of security service. From the description of the service (sorry I forget what it was called, should've probably posted sooner) it sounds like it was related to by bank more than to BMT, but I've never been asked to sign up for it before with any other order. I declined and used a friend's card, because I didn't really want to sign up for a 'service' I've never heard of, researched, or needed before for one purchase. Especially one that shows up in a popup with no context. Honestly it looked like a scam, though it seems it probably wasn't. Ordering with my friend's card it made no such request.

When I get around to ordering my year of CNet I'll probably just use paypal, but I didn't want to wait for fund transfers at the time (when you were on Plimus, I don't remember being required to wait, but it's been so long I'm not sure. And I might've just had funds already in the paypal account then.)

Was it something like the verified by visa feature?

I see that Bank of America still hates BMT Micro.

This time I saw the Paypal button and used that. BoA STILL put a hold on my account. I guess this is just something I will have to live with.

You should probably be using a better bank or credit union anyway.

BDWing, it's hard to say what exactly your bank's fraud protection service takes exception to. But typically, buying things online has more chance of being fraudulent, so those purchases just fit the profile. There's nothing Plimus, BMT Micro, PayPal, or Caravel can do about it.

I have had better luck with a credit union as far as their red-flagging algorithm being more sensible. In the US, the Big Four banks are horrifically insensitive to what their customers want. Every banking thing has gone better for me after joining a credit union.
