Well, that's hard to say but possibly:

1. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Majora's Mask coming in closely behind)
2. Metroid Prime (with 2 and 3 coming in close as well)
3. Super Mario World
4. Goldeneye 007
5. Super Metroid
6. Donkey Kong Country
7. Tetris
8. F-Zero X

(there, matched your top "five" ;) )

You could read some of these as meaning not only the original game, but later spin-offs and similar games. For example, I played quite a lot of Master of Magic and later versions of Civilization, but the first one is still a classic I remember fondly, and as such fits best into a list of just five games.

I don't want to rank these from one to five, so I'm just going to put them in the alphabetical order.

Civilization (Sid Meier)
Doom (Id Software)
DROD (You know who)
Lords of Midnight (Mike Singleton)
Pirates (Sid Meier)

In addition, I've liked more than a few computer RPGs, but I can't think of a single one that really exemplifies the genre and is a clear favorite of mine. As a result, I had to leave them out, because I couldn't list them all :)

1) DROD (You should all know this one.)

2) Freelancer (Sort of a space shooter/simulator. Very nice graphics for a 2003 game, perhaps the best gameplay ever, amazing music, and a storyline that I found most excellent.)

3) Super Paper Mario (A Mario RPG that mostly does away with the RPG part, leaving the game with a tactical challenge and lots of puzzles. The forced battles of the other non-hand-held Mario RPGs I found to be rather dull.)

4) Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker (Block puzzles. IN 3D!!!! ...among other things.)

5) Mass Effect (A bit too long to explain here. Mostly a third-person shooter with a bunch of RPG aspects set in a fun setting. Plus, it has difficulty levels, giving it a bit of replay value.)

There are several other games that I would like to list as well, but this is a "Top 5", not a "Top 80", after all.

Super Paper Mario is really good but I think Thousand Year Door was better. I don't like going to a special battle map either but Paper Mario did it well, as did the Mario & Luigi games for the GBA and DS.

And I wanted to say that Skyward Sword, so far, has been awesome.

1. Metroid Fusion - Sorry DROD, it's just that I love Metroid series, and I love this specific installment thanks to the story. And some really novel bosses. And graphics. And final picture if you get 100% under 2 hours.
2. DROD series - 'nuff said.
3. Metal Gear Solid series - where each next installment is better than previous one, though I didn't yet play through MGS4, don't have PS3
4. Ultrastar, but only when singin' with other people
5. Enigma, Diamond Caves and Everet Kaser games

I just bought them all, and I don't regret it.
specially the puzzle games like: Sherlock, Mrs Hudson, Watsons Map, Honeycomb Hotel, Dinner with Moriarty, Bakerstreet, Scotland Yard and Inspector Lestrade.

I even think Watsons Map was used for a forum contest, if I remember correctly

Of all time? Let's see...

1. Planescape: Torment
2. Psychonauts
3. Beyond Good and Evil
4. Diablo series
5. Half Life series

After the first five it all gets kinda fuzzy, because sure, there are many excellent games, but how many can you look at and honestly say that you played through and enjoyed every moment and can't think of anything obvious that can be improved. Yeah, I suppose Zelda is somewhere really close to the top five too and so is System Shock and derivatives. Maybe Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines too, for all its faults.

Okay, that should be enough.

That is pretty weird. I never had problems running DC3: on XP, Vista x86, Vista x64 and now Win 7 x64. It might be that DC uses OpenGL and your gfx card has problem with supporting it, or some completely different and unrelated reason.

Not all Kaser's games are Sudoku, for example Watson's Map which is one of my favorites. They indeed all follow the same premise as sudoku - procedurally generated rules-light game. I urge you to try Watson's Map and Knarly Branches. AND, if you ever played and enjoyed Chip's Challenge (you should!) the you are going to like the Kaser's MESH games.

Now, Enigma. Actually I can't agree more with you - the controls are really irritating most of the time. But it nicely fills the niche in my gaming tastes, for an action puzzler. I play it once a month for less than hour, but, as you can see, I mindlessly throw it into my top 5 ;).

Some of the characters in Super Paper Mario were meant to be portrayed very seriously (while others, like Bowser, were portrayed in a more comedic fashion). Personally, I found that the developers had success in the character development.

The biggest reason I play Super Paper Mario is for the plot. I guess I am not as old and geezerish as you guys, since I liked how everything worked and flowed.

The game was fun. I've played all the way into the second Pit of One Hundred Trials, so I've seen the game. I must say I agree with Trickster's assessment that the game played way too slowly. The comedy was kind of fun, but there was way too little actually interesting platforming spaced out between long bouts of slowly printing dialogue and questionable gameplay devices. I know I can just say the words "hamster wheel" and everyone will shudder. That is not entertainment or fun. I say this game needed more polishing during the playtesting phase. But, the game was still engaging enough for me to play through past the end, which is more than I can say for several other AAA titles that have come out over the years.

Back on topic...
My top five can be found in my Questionnaire post (DROD RPG, Quake, SketchFighter 4000 Alpha, World of Goo, Samorost, Machinarium), but there are a couple of honorable mentions: Castle Wolfenstein by Muse, and Intellivision's Major League Baseball.

...

Wait, wait....I'm remembering that Intellivision also made a horse racing game where you could bet on the ponies. (Aaaand we're back off-topic.)
