Let me say it again if you can't read Schik's post properly. The rooms are taken from a game called Blockman.

Unlike many other versions on the internet, this one has the official endorsement of the original author.

In fact, this version is made by the original author.

(It's a sad fact that he's never really acknowledged as the original author, but at least his holds are very acknowledged.)

Oh, I didn't know that Larry was the original author of those levels. They seem to be quite popular through several mediums...

The 21" model. (The 27" looked ginormous in comparison. I suppose I would have gotten that one if I'd had the money.) I'm liking it, yes.
The iMac smiley was made up of the console smiley and a couple of tiny iMac icons.

Oh yeah, could those of us who are hind teat Mac users at least get a couple of screenshots of the game? Thanks.

If it's not obvious to everyone yet, this was a reskinned version of Larry Murk's BlockMan. Big thanks to Larry for conceiving of the joke, and doing ALL of the graphic modifications to make it look DROD-y.
I've been meaning to say this ever since you said that but I got distacted long enough for many posts to go by.

Anyway, I knew it was a reskinned version of BlockMan, but I didn't know it was by Larry Murk! I used to love that game, it's a classic! I can't believe the creator of BlockMan is on our forum! All this time, I thought the avarat was just because he was a fan... wow!

We have a couple others, I believe - I know the guy who made VVVVVV plays DROD as well. Considering how big a part of the community hold architecture is, it's not so surprising that some folks would make whole games.

Just a little FYI, I'll try to finish up a new version of BLOCKman real soon where all the rules are the same except I'm making it so you can turn in one space. Then maybe we can have fun doing some level design contest:)

Having only played for a few minutes, I need to ask. Is there a distinction between left/right movement and "climb"? The only case where I can think of the distinction mattering is when you have your back to a block and would like to turn to face it without climbing it. If you implement a method to turn without moving, it might render the "climb" action obsolete.

I think removing the climb button in that situation would be a plus. I would definitely prefer to press left or right to climb as opposed to pressing up all the time. Just a thought. :)

Climb? I always thought that was jumping! It's probably because the first version of BlockMan I ever played was The Oracle of Runes. Larry will probably remeber that.

Bill Soleau had a popular top down view puzzler named Bolo Adventures. After publishing BlockMan, he made several side view puzzlers including Loader Larry that I'm pretty sure were inspired by BlockMan.

Inspired by is an understatement -- it's pretty much the exact same game! Even now, Freddy's Forest, the newest version, and you'll see that it's hardly changed.

There are several ways to play it on OSX:

1. Find the original PC release. It should be playable with some emulation as it uses CGA.

2. Google the words "blockdude flash" for numerous flash clones. (I'm not going to link them since they are unofficial versions.)

For you Mac users. I spoke w/ a Mac savvy friend and he recommended trying an emulator type program.

In particular try doing Google searches on-

Wine Mac: Wine is free I think.

Crossover Mac: Crossover Mac is a fancy program you have to pay for though they might have a free trial.

Unfortunately I am not Mac savvy so all I can say is good luck and tell me how things go if you try anything.

Larry, I'd like to thank you on behalf of the numerous people who spent time in high school classes playing a version of this game on graphing calculators (unfortunately, undoubtedly a ripped off version that didn't give proper credit).

That and Falldown were the top shelf calculator games. I'm sure these days it's easier to just use a phone/iPod, though.

Many thanks for that advice larry. I did google the wine one and found a very useful site with a detailed and very clear explanation of how to set it up. Unfortunately, round about step two and a half it mentioned using Terminal and then went on to give some scary looking commands to be typed in. Some of you will remember that I hate doing anything with/to the innards of the computer
- terrified I do something wrong and lose important files or functions (been there, done that, got the scars to prove it ;) ) so I think I'm going to do a quick side-step on this one. :?

Rat Man, I meant that it's much easier to play games in class using a phone/iPod now than a calculator.

If you have a phone that can access the internet, I'm sure you could play a flash/java version.
