I want that Briars and they Roots will be showed on map!

Briar : Yellow
Root : Orange

It looks stupid,if you make room full of briars,and you can,t see them on map!

I agree. I feel that it is more important for the map to show briars than what's under them, because they act as walls to everything, regardless of what they're on. This would also aid in showing when briars are connected diagonally (since while the briars on-screen do not look connected, growth can still occur through them).

Besides, it makes more sense when a crumbly wall is replaced by a briar than empty space on the map.

But I don't agree with Orange and Yellow. Lots of puzzles use yellow doors to hold in briars, so that right there is a big no.

I removed my proposed colors because they conflicted with Gel (which is really bad). Can anyone come up with good ones? Here are things it must not conflict with: Pits, Bridges, Yellow/Green/Red/Tar Gates (Blue is fine), Platforms/Trapdoor on pits, Gel, stuff that's gray on the minimap, and maybe Hot Tiles.

Hmm... there are some unwritten rules about posting to threads that have not been posted to for a while. Perhaps I'm breaking them now, but hopefully my offense is not that serious.

Anyway.

I like the idea of briar showing in minimap. And actually wrote a java program that extracts minimaps from hold using the same palette that is used in the game except that it shows the briars also.

But I think we need to remember that rooms have been designed when briar does not show on minimap, and sometimes briar might have been chosen because it is invisible on the minimap.

I don't know how much other people look how the map when designin levels, but for me it is important. So adding huge blobs of strong color like purple to my maps would make me sad :(

So, as a compromise, I propose a light gray color such as the one used with bombs. Perhaps a bit darker and slightly green.
Something like #AABBAA. This color is clearly visible at least on my monitor, and at the same time neutral color that does not change the minimap too much. An also this color should be different enough from other colors used in the map.

I want to add something about this minimap.

Playing Complex Complex, for me this minimap is useless.
specialy the "Lava Gates".

You can't see on the minimap if a room is unfinished or secret.
Everything is just orange, since this is a very "complex" hold,
it had been nice if there was some details apearing when you move your mouse on room on the minimap. (or something like that)

That problem with the minimap has been brought up before; I recently bumped such a request, but there have been others. (And yes, it's definitely something that ought to happen.)
