Who's doing the level design in the official hold?

It's almost entirely Mike (with occasional changes and ideas contributed by alpha and beta testers).

Could someone please post a link to some screenshots...
Before someone like Jatopian tosses out some useless, stupid, sarcastic response about reading the thread, I need to state that I've searched and viewed several pages and haven't found anything yet regarding this. :)

What do you mean by several? How about page 5 and 6 of this thread? Here.

Stupid question: you've studied psychology and you're afraid of that?

I believe that was exactly the type of snarky response that Lamkin was politely asking us to refrain from.

<offtopic>Well, it's not meant as snarky remarks, but genuine interest. I'm currently looking for something new, and psychology is one of the items on my consideration list.

I wasn't "afraid" of receiving a sarcastic remark, especially while posting online. I'm actually starting to get used to them here, I guess, although it's unfortunate and not at all necessary. (In the real world...like I had said before...being bipolar, 6'6" and slightly over 250 lbs., I don't get too much of that snarky crap thrown my way.) Thanks for the link, putz. ;)

ITT somebody claims that they're too big and burly to ever get sass IRL and implies that this should follow through onto the internet.

In other, more important news, how extensive will the tutorial be? This Tower of the Sorcerer business scares the heck out of me due to its apparent complexity.

In other, more important news: Say what you mean, and mean what you say, because I have no idea what you just said, Banjo. :)
Also, I never stated or even implied that I thought it should "follow through" to the internet. I guess I'm smarter than some of you, too. ;)

In defense, I do want to say that English is not my first language. And I really didn't meant to be snarky. Guess I still can learn things every day.

What will "follow through to the internet" is my terrible inability to not stand up for myself. (And yeah, Tim, you meant to be snarky...How come some of you guys have so much trouble owning up to that?) Any subsequent replies can (and should) be handled in a PM...or in person. ;)

The tutorial itself is very straightforward. The RPG's gameplay is very simple - simpler, I'd say, than DROD. The complications come from having to plan ahead, not from any particular element or mechanism.

I think I preferred the Lamkin I knew with the cheese avatar. This one's being kinda jerky.

I concur and (sincerely) profusely apologize. Sometimes I stoop to the level of the jerks in the world...It never works for me, plus they are always willing to go just that much lower than I.

Yeah, but Erik was sharing the workload in the TCB release, so things may have been different. There's still a good chance of a simultaneous release this time, but I'm not entirely sure it will be possible.

(Disclaimer: I'm not involved with this side of development and have no more actual info here than anyone else on the forums. This post represents my speculation and should not be taken as an official position)
Iirc, Erik was out of the country for a month or so on a business trip during the actual TCB release, so what he did for the actual release was prepare the TCB page on our web site.

We're almost at a RC for Tendry's Tale now. We'll do a final playthrough test of the RC build as soon as it's ready, during which time I'll spend time making sure the Mac build is also current. So, at least, the Mac version should be available almost in sync with the Windows version, if not on the very same day.

Sorry for the double post -- I just realized there's a page of uncomfortable snark at the end of this thread. So, I'll throw in my two cents and paraphrase a bit of general advice I read on a Bugzilla page once:

Never argue with an idiot, because he will bring you down to his level, and then beat you with experience. :lol

Nah, the best way to win an argument with an idiot is to win by bonus points.

i.e. you get no points by winning the argument, but you get points for amusing yourself. My favourite argument on that note was when I was playing to lose, but managed to convince them during the argument that bananas were a mutated form of carrot. Hilarity ensued when they tried telling other people this.

This makes me a happy Hikari. Hoping for a Labor Day release so I'll be able to celebrate a successful homecoming from PAX with a bit of DROD RPG. :D

Sorry, I was sick since last week and won't have anything to you today, but we are beginning RC testing, so I'd put the release date at a week or two from now, unless something Bad happens. :w00t

Hey, don't worry! What could happen?

besides earthquake, hurricane Gustav erupting into an aerial volcano, a giant kryptonite asteroid, aliens invading from the center of the earth, a Starbucks manager gone wild, Tendry becoming animated and slicing his way out of the RPG, deranged smily faces, exploding soda cans, golden stilts with real brains, the first human clone, the finding of Lucy, an attack on earth from the long-dormant Atlantis, or *gasp* A GLITCH!!! :unsure Be afraid. Be very afraid. :look

Aw, roaches! The bar hit 99.4% and it's probably pointless to ask any questions about this particular release. Let's play game journalist then.

'Will DROD RPG support/require shaders 4.1?'
'Do you plan an eventual Ageia PhysX support?'
'Does your game utilise Speedtree or Havok?'
'Do you think it will appeal to casual gamers?'
'Have you already been sued by Jack Thompson?'
'Is there hope for a sequel?'

Seriously, how do you guys feel about doing a sequel to DROD RPG or even starting your own epic series? Is it possible for DROD and its spin-off(s) to go separate ways that involve, for example, mutually exclusive enemies, items etc.? Or are you intent on keeping them tightly interwoven?
