There's 54 entries into the Cheap Trick contest.

Yeah, I think we'd better do leagues again.

There's three leagues of 18 entries, which are attached to the post directly below: the top six entries will go into the final league. Hopefully, with six entries going through, we'll have less people selflessly trying to get their entry out of contention so one they liked better than their own will go through - that's far too sportsmanlike for this contest!

Your brief is to vote on entries based on how much you appreciated the trick. The more impressive the trick is to you, the closer your vote should be to 10. As always, vote for every entry in whatever league you take, vote yourself a 10 so you don't have to feel shame for inflicting such a dirty prank on the world, and don't go giving everyone else low votes to make yourself look good. People frown on such cheap tricks.

I know where the ZIP with all the entries is.
It's also on my computer; I went to the bother of playing all the entries, keeping a log of what I'd vote along the way. It was agony punctuated with drugs. I developed some standards:
Darkness or unpredictable scripting got 2 max. Seriously, how tired and uncreative can one get?
Holds which didn't give a solution, or the solution didn't work, got 4 max. With so many entries, I couldn't put up with that crap.
Holds which gave a partial explanation/solution, which I then could work out on my own, got a 6 max.
Holds which didn't fall into one of those categories, and had me berating myself, got a 6 min. 6, by the way, is the general threshold at which I find holds worth downloading. Except in special cases as with Bad Evil Restaurant. But I digress...
The highest rating I gave (of all the leagues) was a 9; the lowest were 1s. Several of them, because they sucked and couldn't even explain their suck properly.

Does "invisible NPC" count as unpredictable scripting?

It very much depends on what the script does. If it is not predictable to a player playing the room for the first time, then it's unpredictable. However, if the player does not even know whether there is an NPC in the room or not, it would make it more difficult for the player to be able to predict the scripting.

Invisible NPCs? No, not necessarily. "Teleport squares", i.e. "step on this one square and it'll take you somewhere else"? Yes, that's unpredictable scripting.

For the record, according to the final vote totals, here are the top six entries in this category:
