Update

As of today, both SubTerra and SubTerra 2 have been updated.

This includes a number of minor bugfixes, for which I'll point you to the change log, as well as the infamous Theseus and Roman Mile fix :)

More importantly, both games now run windowed, as well as full-screen. I'd appreciate it if some people could give this a quick test run.

A few questions/comments:

1 - Where is this change log you speak of?

2 - I lost all my progress after I installed the updated Subterra 2. This was a bit annoying, and I would have appreciate a warning.

3 - The main menu doesn't work properly on windowed mode - the highlighting doesn't match the size of the text.

From the Main menu, click 'information' then 'history'.

2 - I lost all my progress after I installed the updated Subterra 2. This was a bit annoying, and I would have appreciate a warning.
That's not supposed to happen at all. Do you still have your player.cfg file? Did you install it in a different folder?

3 - The main menu doesn't work properly on windowed mode - the highlighting doesn't match the size of the text.
Hm. (boggle) Yes, I can see that happening. I'll see what I can fix about that.

Nope, I installed into the same (default) folder.

Huh - now when I came into the game my progress was there - it seemed that only the first time I ran it after the new install I lost my progress. I'll let you know if I notice anything (else) weird.

Wait, but now I'm really confused - the first two "eye queue" questions are the same as before.

Interesting...

There should be a file in your "data" subdirectory which is called "SubTerra.ini". Open that, add a line that says "FullScr:1" (without the quotes) and see if that helps.

Sorry, just remembered about this.

Look near the bottom of the screen. I'm using a resolution of 1280 by 1024, if that helps.
This also occurs in ST1 in windowed mode.

Other bugs:
The ST1 installer puts the 2007 contest .lvl file in the Subterra folder, but it has to be in the Data folder for it to work.
The ST2 installer also installs a few level files to the folder (don't know if that's intentional or not.)
Being in either ST1 or 2 in windowed mode, and clicking on a window behind it gives weird image effects, as does exiting ST1 in windowed by clicking on the 'x' in the top right hand corner.

Jeff - so you're saying that the previous version worked fine, and the new version does all these errors?

You said you think you get the same error both in windowed and in fullscreen mode; could you please double-check that?

That is very odd. And the previous (december) version did work?

What is your system setup? Have you run DXDIAG lately?

What's DXDIAG?

And where do I find out my system setup?

I may know computers a bit, but you got me confused here. Please clarify and I might be able to respond.

DXDiag is the DirectX diagnosis program. You generally run it by selecting "run" from your start menu, typing DXDIAG and pressing enter.

the two best ways to learn that sort of thing are a)fixing problems and b)mucking around on a computer for no apparent reason

you could also try figuring out how to get along without any kind of mouse....

Not sure if this was fixed or not, but if you use the cheat
Click here to view the secret text
to get 99 dynamite, you'll notice that dynamyte wasn't actually in ST2. If you enter this cheat and attempt to use dynamite, it will instead spawn a tile which looks like the middle piece of a key block, and become solid and immovable.
