I see the change. I see why it creates a problem. I don't see how this is still possible.
If Halph activates the south orb first, he can barely get to the center orb, but not back out. Sending him toward the south orb at first, I can then get him to go to the center orb in time, but if he then goes to the south orb, he doesn't get out to the northeast orb in time. I can manage a few creative ways to get Halph to block a bit of tar growth, but one square without tar never makes enough of a difference.
This is one of just two more secrets I need to access the Dreamplane. (I still need to find the other one.) Help?
And out of curiosity, if CaravelNet magic allows me to post this topic, does it also block players who haven't found this room from seeing this thread?

I'll let someone else help you with the room (read: I don't remember how to beat it), but...

If you haven't found that room, as far as I know when you click on the room image (or if it is shown in-line) then it just shows an image which says "You haven't gotten this far, check again once you do." Of course, for secret rooms, the title of the thread is still there. Schik does have some plans to even hide that from people who haven't gotten there yet, but it's not nearly as easy to do and he's still thinking about how to implement it.

Game on,

I was afraid of that. But I'm not going to change anything just now, since the title itself is more spoilery than everything else in the thread, and there's no obvious better way. And of course, this isn't the only thread about a secret room I've seen here.

1. The main thing is that you need to make Halph get to work as soon as possible.

2. You need to figure out what the most efficient way for him to tag all the orbs is.

But if you tag the doors in that order, as you probably already know, you're sunk.

So, how to get Halph moving sooner?

You'll need a similar technique later on in the room as well, but I'll let you figure out where and the particulars. Remember,

Got it. I had actually been using the technique stigant described all along, but only in the first part and missed it (in most attempts) for the second timing problem.

Congratulations! We should have teamed up from the start - I
managed to figure out the above secrets, BUT: my efficiency is lousy.

PS: You do realise that I roundly cursed you for about ten
minutes yesterday when I solved a different, secret room

in a very respectable 2108 moves only to find out via the demos
that YOU had done it in 2107 :huh? ONE move - well done :D. Of
course I went back and did it in slightly fewer moves to bag that
last highscore place. Your turn to curse me... :P

I absolutely hate this room. The original was a pain in the butt to begin with. This is just excessive.

Anyway, I can't finish the room with nearly enough time. Rather, I'm always 6 steps behind the tar. I looked at previous posts and got down the suggested order but it's still way too slow. If I attack the tar before all the gates are open Halph gets stuck, but if I don't I don't have enough time.

So yeah. I hate this room, and need some advice. I know how to do it. I just don't have enough time. Part of the problem I'm seeing is the timing of Halph. I always get to the proper door to hit long before he's there.

This is the first room that has seriously made me consider uninstalling the game. I am one room away from the Dreamplace. I am angry.

The funny thing is, I solved the 'easier' version of the room in the 'harder' way. When I got around to this room, I was mad for a while before I realised that exactly the same solution worked! I only saw the easier way in a downloaded demo..

Heh. Seriously, chill out, and get some sleep or something. You know that someone will send you a demo if you absolutely, positively can't solve it.

For me, the problem on this move wasn't how I was sending Halph around, but my efficiency in carving the tar up. I was a similar number of moves down myself and then I finally just got it on the umpteenth try. If you're that close I can almost guarantee you that you can shave off a few moves in the right place.

Game on,

I just plain don't get this room. I'm pretty sure I have the right order for Halph: Here

But I just can't seem to be efficient enough. I have no idea how to be faster at it than I'm already being. Like the other super hard secret in this level I've been stuck on this for weeks now. I can't imagine being more stuck on a room than this one.

(Decided to put a demo up to show just how horrible I'm doing at this room.)

I'm still stuck, openening the doors is no problem, but killing the tar. I tried a lot, even the order they give in this topic, but I still ran out of time.

But I post here, because mostly if you do, you solve the room after you post here.

But more hints are welcome ofcourse.

Right now I have trouble accessing that e-mail account from home (the one that this board points to), but if you PM me your e-mail I can send the demo from a different account.

Actually, nevermind, I just solved it. Thanks for the offer though. I found the way to hit the NE door before killing the first spawned tarbaby, and that saved me enough time to trap the tarbabies from killing the Center, which then gave me enough time to finish off the other two tar mothers.

Now I just need to finish the rest of the game, and see if I missed any secrets.

This one is doing my f***ing nut! I've tried all the strategies layed out here and I'm not getting anywhere.

* I can open all the doors and get Halph where he needs to be.
* I'm pertty sure I do that in the most efficient way possible
* My 'best' approach is to kill the southern-most mother as soon as Halph opens the door and I send him on his way again.
* I can sometimes trap the tar babies, sometimes not, but it never seems to make any difference - I can even get close to the last mother...I think my best must be 10-20 turns 'off the pace'
* I just can see where I'm lacking efficieny.

So hopefully, now I posted here, I'll see the light and solve it in a couple of minutes.

Especially frustrating because it's this room keeping me out of the DreamPlane
