When it gets released, Stencyl looks to be a perfect easy way to create your own little Mario/Sonic/MegaMan/FireEmblem/Metroid/Zelda game!

And it's going to be free too! I wonder if I could manipulate the engine enough to make a stepping game. :P

Looks very cool Ezlo. It'd be great if you bump the thread when it is out.

I took a quick glance. It very much resembles Multimedia Fusion, Game Maker and the others. Apparently, the innovation lies in these game templates from popular genres, so you don't need to code the engine yourself. The downside, of course, is more clones and less unique games - and these "kits" could be done at any time in TGF/MMF/GM if people felt like it. I'm not gonna complain if it's free and open source, but it does make me wonder what's in it for the developers... are they just a bunch of well-meaning gamers or some sort of business?

As I said, it's pretty much for those who want to make there own Mario or Metroid game. I think it's an awesome idea.
