December 2004 - The Unfortunate Architect

The first contest run by Patrick Fisher, this architectural competition involved crafting a simple nine room hold following a complex set of strict guidelines. Of course, nothing in life is simple, and neither was this contest. Each architect had exactly 25 Roach Queens (And with them, unlimited roaches), 16 Wraithwings, 110 Evil Eyes, 5 Tar Mothers (And with it, unlimited tar and tar babies), 10 Snakes of any length, 11 Goblins, 3 Brains, 3 Mimic Potions and 1 Invisibility Potion at their disposal, and each room had to be accessible from the entrance. Quite a task, indeed, but the turnout was amazing. Fourteen architects submitted their works, with Jacob claiming first prize, Doom taking second, and Mikko nabbing third.

Still, all of the entries were interesting, challenging, and unique. After the dust settled, a compilation of the fourteen holds was created and submitted to CaravelNet. To pick it up, head to this thread, or look for the hold called "Unfortunate Architect Compilation" in your CaravelNet hold list.
