If anyone is interested, attached is an anyone edit version of MetDROiD Prime.

Wanted to know how those Chozo ghosts worked? What about the code gates?

Well nows your chance to find out.

Because this hold seems popular still, I've password protected it to stop those people who can't control themselves, so you will have to have mastered this hold already.

It is case/symbol sensitive.

Ok,

You can now download the testing version of my new hold.
Alot is completed, and there should only be one set of 'end hold' stairs.

Guess right, and consider yourself fantastic.
Guess wrong, also consider yourself fantastic, cause you might have found a bug.

Play through and let me know what you think so far. If you believe there are any bugs, post here, and i'll keep a track of them all.

This is still early days for the hold, and hope you give me a bit of help checking it out.

I am so excited, because I loved MetDROiD AE, and I also love Metroid Prime, so I have been looking forward to this for a while. I believe I am the first to download this, too. :D

I think I am going to try testing it a little, because I feel like it. Is room 3N3W possible? The only orb that is possible to hit, I believe, is supposed to OPEN a closed door, but it is set to CLOSE the door. I can't figure out where to go from there. :/ Is this a bug?

Yep. I've added a extra tile at the foot of the room to gain access.

I've now changed the mud back to tar (I started making the hold woth tar, then i changed it to mud, but has now altered the difficulty (made it easier). Iv'e now changed it back to tar.

I was also going to point out 3S2E didn't work, but that has already been done. :/

I think on the first level, 4N2W needs a check point, because I made like 3 stupid mistakes, and I had to start it over.

Also, because this was bothering me, the path between Talon Overworld: 2S2E and 3S2E don't exactly line up. Nothing major, but it bugged me.


I am also going to compliment you on the item code thing, because, even though I didn't get to use it yet, it still looks like an awesome idea.

Im againt using check points for any of these rooms, even though some can get into the 1000 move mark. It gives a real change of pace/difficulty that gets a little spoilt with checks.

However, I realise that the repetition of it gets a little annoying sometimes.

I'll take it under consideration. If I put one here, I should put one in CR>4N2E and PD>3S2E.

Thanks fpr commenting on the code scripts. Ever since I had the orbs in tar of my first hold, I wanted something even more innovative for this one :)

I didn't like MetDroid a lot but there seems to be a lot improvement after it. Keep up the good work.

Few small bugs:

- Missile launcher is misspelled in the space craft.
- Required item gates open without doing anything. Not implemented yet?

I made also one mistake that resulted in restarting the room. BUT, in fact that room is a boss fight. Wouldn't it be cheating to be able to save in the middle of a situation like that?

Thanks AE was more of a test i think, and there are alot more asthetical and enjoyable features in jtrh at the moment to concentrate on out-and-out difficulty.

Will fix missile bug. Code gates are not implemented at the moment - they will be last points to be added (this might also be introduced as private testing only)

Thought that too! And as the bosses are in Prime, these type of 'boss' puzzles get a bit (authentically) repetitive.

Is Tallon Overworld-2S3E possible? I can't seem to get all of the trap doors, because the ortho squares prevent you from getting all 3 of the first row of trap doors. You would have to move diagonally once to get all of those trap doors, no?

I continued playing, and then, I got to Chozo ruins-south. There is nowhere to go in there...all of the gates are closed, and there diesn't appear to be any buttons. So I turned around, and discovered that it isn't possible to return to Talon Overworld 3E from 4E. I then restored from 3E, and it is also not possible to return to 1S3E from 3E.

Im building this inthat way you actually progress though the game. I should also pay attention to return corridors too i guess (though there is little reason to go back in the southern area of TO).

I've fixed this, and also added access to CR-South.

Woo, I think I found a game bug. O_O

In TO-5E, you have a green door that opens when all of the roaches are killed. You also have more roaches that appear when the green door is opened. If you leave the room before killing all of the roaches, the green door will come back, and it will not be possible to go back.

I love what you tried to do with the appearing roaches. It is just like those annoying space pirates that just randomly poof out of nowhere. :D

Latest release is up now.
All I need to complete is:
- architecture for quite a few more secret rooms
- the last boss room in TO
- the entire last level - Impact Crater (about 10 rooms)
- to add all the coding scripts for items and artifacts
- some extra asthetics for all the secret rooms

Thanks to all those who have dowloaded this reported any bugs or mistakes. Please continue to test and report on any bugs you can find, so I can fix this and get the hold as best I can.

I'll need some beta testers for the final version, which will hopefully be relesaed this month or next. This will include all the codes and secrets, and will need to be played from start to finish. Hope some of you will be interested in doing this for me before it goes to the final hold board.

The hold now needs beta testers. It is almost complete now, just need to finish two boss rooms.

I already asked about that a few posts up. It is intended to be a boss fight, so therefore, there are no checkpoints. You can't save in the middle of a boss fight, right?

Hmmmm... I really shouldn't do this in the weekend, it would probably take me many days to finish it... I've only got two artifacts now, and I've already played this a whole day.

I haven't got so many time to describe many rooms, so I've included level demos instead. Each file in the zip consists of demos of my rooms so far in a level.

Comparing this to Medroid AE, this one is much easier, but the story is much more intense (quite disturbing as well). The puzzles are much slower now, and it feels more sedate, but where I am now it just feels a bit mixed.

There are some things I do not like:

Let's start with my main gripe, there's a lot of spelling mistakes in there. I will put those in a seperate post, as it is really a very long list. Metroid AE doesn't really require you to read this much, but spelling errors here really does detract the joy of this hold. I spent much more time reading than playing rooms, and I hope that was not the intention (the story was good, but I'm not too sure about the amount of text. it feels too much.)

Going back to the ship takes really a lot of time, but that's not really a problem. The next time I will do it with save/restore. ;)

Oh, and the first "boss" room, the one with the tar mother and some fuses. I can see a lot of scripts there, but if you see my demo, I just don't understand how to get rid of the person in the middle.

Tallon 3N3E: The red door is really not needed?

The things I do like are:

The scripting is great! I haven't found any problems with it. That's quite unique, but then this time I'm only testing it in a beta phase.

The secret rooms look great as well! Did you really draw those things yourself?

The puzzles are good as well. THe one where you need the spawned roaches to block a queen is really cool.

Oh, and this is a great hold. I can wait to play the real Prime after playing this...

Assuming you're using a late enough version (I think it went in with 2.0.8), when you export a hold it will ask you if you want to export speech text as well (even if you cancel the export). If you don't have editing rights you won't be able to export the hold, though.

Well, I use 2.0.9 (windows this time, as I will be trying out Ubuntu in the next few weeks) and I can't do it (with a copied version of the level). Besides, 80% of the texts in this hold is on scrolls.

I've tried this with Simplicity as well, and I'm sure I have editing right on that one, but that doesn't export it either... (or is it for speech or JtRH holds only?)

Well, first of all, it's just the speech in scripts, not scroll text. Second, I think I didn't give enough information. The patches just gave you the ability to allow speech exporting. You need to open up your drod.ini and set ExportSpeech=1 in the [Startup] section. Sorry about that!
