wow. I suggested that a little over 2 years ago. if T is "test", then "shift T" or "control T" should be "test in hard" (at the time, Radiant said "good, simple idea". amazed it hasn't made it in yet :) ).

Hey! I just saw the DROD JtRH screen when exiting SubTerra. I didn't know Caravel was advertising in the game. Anyway, its really cool. It looked really...what's the word? Refreshing...yeah. When I saw it for the first time, I said, "Hmm, that's DROD." Then I stared at the screen and studied it for a while. :cool

All other times I saw the screen for that RPG Lyennes..Lyn...I forgot how it was spelled.

Well, I'm progressing in the game a bit nicely. I just became a beginner...from novice. :?

Leylines.

Not a RPG, it's a turn-based strategy game, and I hope a worthy successor to Master of Magic.

I dunno if this is a bug or not, but if I replay my solutions of levels solved in easy mode. It'll run the replay like it's in hard mode!

not a bug. only one solution is recorded for each room. I think it's your highest scoring one, which due to the bonus, is generally always your hard mode solution.

incidentally, when playing in easy mode, if you meet the requirements for hard mode (the extra gems, time limit, hitting the red exit) you get instant credit for solving it on hard. the only difficulty of that is that often you don't know what the hard mode gem requirement is yet.

Bug with editor: When you use the explosion content editor, the middle mouse button does not work well when it is something other than empty space. And when you use middle mouse button a lot in the explosion content editor, when you go back to the actual level theres a lot of strange objects you never put there.

Hey Radiant, I read on Spidweb ST board that you were no longer accepting emails. Does that mean that I have to post the ST2 levels in the 'New Levels' thread on this forum?

heh, double post

If it's what I'm seeing, then it's not the case. If I beat a level on easy mode using the red exit, then the replay runs in hard mode, my character gets to the exit with gems left in the quota (in the case of Not A Mandelbrot, quite a few left), and explodes for walking into the (solid wall) exit. Even though I completed the level normally when the demo got recorded.

I noticed this when replaying all my recorded demos trying to find a secret level exit. Despite having completed the first three rows, I still only managed to find the first secret level.

incidentally, when playing in easy mode, if you meet the requirements for hard mode (the extra gems, time limit, hitting the red exit) you get instant credit for solving it on hard. the only difficulty of that is that often you don't know what the hard mode gem requirement is yet.

I have noticed that. A few levels I managed to master inadvertently. On the other hand, some of the tutorial levels are positively beastly in hard mode. Pipe Mania for example (and to think I wondered why it was called that) - I had to resort to pencil and graph paper, something very few DROD rooms required. Of course I wish directional pipes looked more like force arrows, I have a hard time telling which way they go with the regular graphic.

Is there any place I can download Leylines ? The homepage says "temporarily unavailable".

Is it commercial ? I've seen $15 somewhere.

Stewboy -> oh, I accept e-mails all right, I just prefer not to put my e-mail address in public places. Spam, you know.

Acrobat -> yeah, it may behave funny if you set the game in Hard Mode and want it to replay a demo saved in Easy Mode. The way around is to switch back to easy for the time being.

B0rsuk -> Leylines... I'm getting to that some time soon. It used to be available commercially, but only barely, so I'm probably going to release it for free anyway. But it needs a bit of fixing up.

Yes, that's because I'm evil :)

Seriously though, a spider loses two ticks per corner turned. I don't strictly recall why, but it was intentional at some point.

1))
I have downloaded the free version from crystalshard.net.
I was very surprised when, on opening "Start the Game", I found the following list:
Prime
Contest 2002
Contest 2003
Contest 2004
Contest
Contest 2
Contest 3
Push-it Puzzles
Push-it

I read somewhere up here that somebody had a similar problem so I should delete things that appear twice. How do I do that?

2))
But, besides having double features, I lament the fact that my beloved Supaplex and also Zozo & Isi disappeared!!!
How can I get them back again?

3))
On opening the Contests sets, I found:
- levels I hadn't solved marked with the lamp (it means they've been won hard mode, right?)
- levels I had solved that appeared as unsolved yet
- levels I had solved which are now "not accessible"! I.e., "Eight challenges", Little Creatures" and lots of others.

4))
If I pause JUST a second musing over these novelties, the screen changes and the Subterra list of editors, etc., starts running.
This is very annoying.

Please help!

I experienced the same problem. On the first page of this topic, Radiant wrote
It seems likely that you have duplicate sets by varying names. You should delete levelsets until you have only one each of the following:
2002, 2003 and 2004 contests
Supaplex Selection
Zozo & Isi
Push-it Puzzles
Just go to your SubTerra folder, go to Data, and delete contest 1,2,3.LVL .

If you fix 1, you will have fixed 2. You still have the levelsets I think, but as you have so many others, they don't fit onto the menu. Again, consult your Data folder to see if you have them.
I don't know how to fix 3 and 4, unfortunately. I haven't experienced them.

EVERYTHING IS WORKING FINE NOW, THANKS!! :)

I solved the third problem but not number 4)) so far. Help is also welcome here.

Another point:
5)) with this new version, one can choose the speed of the game. I think I chose 4. Does it matter whether one tests one's levels using any available speed?

Have a nice day,
Caterina

No, it doesn't matter, except that setting a lower speed may make things easier for yourself.

yeah, i must agree, tho i also find the music in the levels pretty low key too, i wouldnt mind a bit of vivaldi's four seasons or one of paganinni's capprices.

Yes. The trick is in finding MIDIs of decent quality that are actually allowed to be used in a game like this. In my experience, most composers don't respond if you ask them for permission.

hey, i just had another idea!

the reason you need permission is becuase they are copyrighted by their preformers, not by their writers (most of the time)

so couldnt you just find a nice person who can play some kind of classical instument and get them to record it for you?

or maybe i could get my freind to do it for you [he's an absolute devil on the violin. only prob being that he has stopped playing, but i could convince him to start again...], tho i dont know where i would find the equipment to record it

Unfortunately, this requires good recording equipment, which most people don't have. Plus, single-instrument songs tend not to mesh very well with computer games.
