I think UU is compare-able with transparrent tar-stuff.
It's a natural step of evolution.
At first the transparent tar mods, made those hidious "
tar-covering-wall-rooms"
a lot more plezant.
But spoiled some rooms. Nowadays it's even one of the main rules of architecture, to not do this anymore,
because we had our share of that.
So now we have a transparent tar stuff slider, so people can choose how to play.
And to be honost, Only when I play KDD & JtRH, I turn transparancy off.
Now I think of it, the sister gates also spoiled a
peticular hold
UU is, like I see it, the same isue.
At first people got enoyed, to restart a room when died.
So we got undo, I loved it!!
But to many times when you took a step and "
out of the blue"
: tar growed!!
And doing 1 undo didn't take you back to a safe position.
So 2 would have been fine.
Now FDROD has 3, I thought that was one to many,
but actually it doesn't matter.
The game has evolved, there are so many things in DROD,
that losing some old puzzle stuff, or improving restart options(more checkpoints, UU) will not spoil the game for many of us.
Look at the highscores, there are 5 people with +100000 points, the next one has 87000,
We have +8000 forum members (I don't know how many have an active caravelnet membership),
but UU wont get all of us to play for highscores or optimisations.
(If this is the case why people are "
afraid"
of UU, because that's the feeling I have from the beginning the UU descussion started a couple of years ago)
