Here's what I want.

I want a slayer NPC in the room. I want that slayer NPC to act like it was a clone potion.

That is to say: When I hit tab, I want to be the slayer. When I hit tab again, I want to be Beethro.

I have tried to do this myself via clever trickery but it doesn't seem to want to work.

Yes, I'm poking at holds again.

No, they still won't be any good.

Edit: 'But Banj,' you say, 'what if your slayer clone touches a clone potion?'

Obviously the clone potion clones whatever player role touched it.

So you could have a slayer and two Beethros, or a Beethro and two slayers, and you could thus have puzzles based around needing to figure out which player role needs to get to a certain potion.

Honest to god this opens up a lot of puzzle room, being able to switch player roles on the fly like this.

That is a wonderful idea. It gives a lot of puzzle potential and story potential as well. We could have lots of terrible holds staring Beethro and his pet Rock Golem teaming up to fight crime or something.

Because alternate player roles open up a can of puzzletastic awesome. Slayers are popular due to the body kill and hook combo. And other roles can be story based.

I see why they're fun to play (I'm actually working on a hold starring my original character, 145th Slayer) but why would you be playing Beethro and a slayer, two enemies, at the same time?

As above - puzzle potential without adding new elements. It could be that the only way to round a corner is to use a slayer with its double-kill ability, or that mixing a seep with a swordless Beethro is the only way through a maze (etc)...

I personally love the idea!

[EDIT]

I'm not sure how far TCB you've got but there's the notion of clones where several Beethro's have to operate together to solve the room. This feature request would just add to the potential by using the specific abilities of each creature alongside Beethro's (since, in TCB, we can already use them as player roles...)

I love it. And, Rat Man, if you doubt that playing as some other player role opens up huge possibilities, see Val Unrich. Also, any combination can work, if you tailor the story to it (or just don't have a story and make interesting puzzles with it).
