Well, that's an easy one...

How about NOT PLAYING DROD? Or STAYING WITH THE DEMO UNTIL YOU CAN PAY? :huh

If I stop playing DROD, I stop alt+tabbing between it and work and play MMORPGs 24/7 instead.

DROD is the only game I know of that makes me *want* to alt+tab a lot, since it's turn-based and windowed..
If I let out my game addiction on something other than DROD, Browsing/Working/Chatting/etc. comes to a screeching halt altogether.

DROD *is* pretty much the best choice of any game that would not only cure my MMORPG addiction but also make me work/learn.
I've tried stopping gaming altogether but that usually doesn't really work out too well, and I come back soon enough.

And when I've played through all the demos so much that I got the highest score I've managed to get about five times in a row, they get boring. User-holds are also completely ruined half the time due to lack of styles.

Not having CaravelNet is punishment enough on it's own, if not deprivation of the full hold and additional styles. At least give me the other two is what I thought.

:?

EDIT: I also tried burning down the place where I got them. I got a few ships when the whole bay was alerted to my presence and drove me out quickly. I did what I thought most sensible and ran. My next target was MSN Messenger, seeing as that's how I got TCB. I barely scratched their walls when I got flattened by their end user license agreement.
I'll try again some other time.

Try entering some contests! Even if you don't win you get a free copy of any of the caravel games if you participate in 8 of them.
(Which, by the way, is the reason I entered this month's)

buying games over the internet for dumpkoffs

1: Open a paypal account
2: own your own bank account
3: maybe have money in the bank account
4: purchase game via paypal by asking Caravel nicely

at no point does this actually require parental permission, also ideally it's your own money so just be, like, not a sucker and stop buying junk food for maybe a week?

Last time I checked you can't register a paypal account if you're not of age.
Money isn't the problem, I have a few grand in my bank account.

-Insane

EDIT: Yup, 18+ only.
I could of course enter a false date of birth, chances are they check it with the bank though, and I don't have a credit card just yet. I won't go any further just there.

I doubt that, really. Paypal isn't really precise at checking all your info & stuff, and especially not your age.

So you're suggesting I should lie about my age and register a paypal using my bank account?

Do you have any friends who could buy it for you, perhaps? Hmm...

Caravel: Would you guys be willing to consider allowing someone to do sales at events or such, marking it up slightly (cost of media, mostly) or something? I've met a few people who think DROD's neat, but don't like buying online...

There's an option to pay (for any DROD game) via snail mail using a check. :)
Surely Germany has a postal service, correct? (I'll stop calling you Shirley.) :rolleyes Deutsche Post?

Edit: Apparently, only U.S. dollars are accepted for a check, and you're not supposed to send cash. Hmm...

Check around with your friends, see if one of them can get their parents to buy it, and then you buy it off him/her.

Paypal doesn't check. I know from experience. However, they do screw around and once they double charged me, at which point I stopped using them.

Fixed.

As for Insane... If you really care so much about DROD, then I'm sure you can find a way to scrounge a few euros and reward all the hard work put into the game. For someone I'd consider as old-school as yourself, I find your earlier posts rather... surprising...

Wait, I know this one ... Install the demo and play user-made holds?

I do have more than enough money, that's not the problem. The problem is just not being able to pay over the internet or via check.

Offtopic: Interestingly enough, I never knew that Erik lived in Seattle. I go on vacation in Seattle once or twice a year.

Hehe, I could actually do that next time I visit the USA (which is in... oh wait I just CAME from Seattle, 2 years?).
I'd need some US Dollars though, unless Erik wants Euros.

Wouldn't it be more productive, now, if one wants DROD, to get those dollars to, uh... Mr. Dr. Imer?

Not that there's anything wrong with giving Erik random free money. :)

Why not install the free DROD? Architect's Edition.

It's a complete game and there's plenty of good holds for it... would that tide you over for now?

Dude already has his non-legit copy of TCB. I doubt he's going to play AE.

Let's just stick with finding him a way to give us his 20bux, shall we?

Yeah... I still think someone needs to do an AE3.0 sometime. Or 3.2, or whatever the current engine version is.
